RoyalBlue An unbelievably (well from most but you) arrogant and ridiculous retort.

I strongly suspect that there are even some within the club who would privately/off the record admit that this was the case.

they gave you loads of time to renew at last seasons cost, and only added 20 quid on for therest, i think thats pretty fair. they also offer plenty of payment options including a 0 % interest one, and one with interest, but very low monthly payments.
not only that but they have gone on a very good run to convince you theyre worth it in good time for you to change your mind.
i cant see what else they could do for you you massive bloody ingrate.

Address the issue everyone is unhappy about and extend the period in which you can renew your seat to a more reasonable proximity to the start of next season.

i just dont see the problem. especially if you were thinking of renewing regardless.
if you were thinking about not renewing, then id say this was a good way of bringing it to the forefront of your mind, and making you change your mind

i personally cant see any reason for teeth gnashing of any kind

PieEater
Harpers So Solid Crew Not everyone is unhappy about it though, I think it was unreasonable, but like anything it is a one off move, next season it will seem normal to renew in april, as it is at many other clubs, those with the best/most popular seasts wil renew or lose them.

Anyone looking at the sales of seats will know that despite what the club say that some seats are more popular than others, this may be the start of a new pricing structure.

Probably 90% of those people in the best seats would have renewed early with a renewal discount instead of the club pissing them off with a threat.

Why, the threat was buy early or lose your seat.

They had a choice to use a carrot or a stick, they chose a stick.

Or rather "risk losing your seat".

They've used a carrot in the past, now the change to using a stick has come suddenly, and without a great amount of notice.

Having said that, lots of clubs aredoing this now and Reading have given more notice than many others.

Or rather "risk not being able to sit in the same next year as this year" unless a debenture system was introduced when I wasn't looking

Or rather not being able to sit in the same seat next year as you have since the Mad Stad opened?

Or with the people you've got used to over the years - and away from potentially annoying strangers?

Or even of the seat you've been gullible enough to have paid to have a name plaque on?

Everyone assigns a different "value" to their seat - the longer they've had it the greater that "value" becomes for most people.

Exactly and if the seat is that valuable to you, you won't begrudge renewing a month or so earlier than you might have done before

I think i might actually get onto the ST bandwagon this year.
There did not seem to be much incentive earlier in the season but the 'pressure' to renew for some is now on.

how is it a threat otr a stick. its just them saying, renewals by date X please.
the whole may lose your seat thing has always applied if you dont renew your ST hasnt it? its just the date thats changed. im pretty sure its teh clubs perogative to change that to bring it in line with many other clubs.
its no great conspiracy, no great master plan to oxf*rd over the fans.
i just cant get the problem.

but i can see that some of you do, fair enough i guess. carry on.

Dear Supporter,
With the boys on great form and currently occupying a play-off place it really is an exciting time to support the Royals!
It would be great to see you at one of our last 2 home league games this season:
• Reading v Sheffield United – Easter Monday 25 April, kick off 3pm
• Reading v Derby County – Saturday 7 May, kick off 12.45pm
Advance tickets are priced from just £10 for kids, £17 concessions and £23 for adults and are on sale now. Advance prices now apply until 3 hours prior to kick off, however we recommend booking early to secure the best seats for the game.
Call 0844 249 1871, visit the Ticket Office or go to online ticketing to purchase your tickets.
We hope to see you at Madejski Stadium soon!
Kind regards
Reading FC

Why would they email this to a season ticket holder

Because they're not perfect and like all other organisations have an imperfect database - possibly with multiple customer records for one person and only one of them tied to the ST holder record.

And like all other organisations they make mistakes.

Well I renew every year regardless, so they can jiggle the renewal date but ultimately I only pay ONCE a year.

To be fair with the weather the years have gone all silly, snow in Dec two in a row, now a heatwave in april.

Well yes, June to April is not twelve months but I think you have deliberatlely chosen to ignore the meaning of my post.
The renewal date has moved forward this year, in subsequent years it will move back again, no matter I will still only pay once a season ( perhaps season is better than year to illustrate my point)

but you ARE paying more than once a season!! You're paying for next season, this season and if they move it earlier next season for renewals, you'll be doing the same!
