melonhead
M U R T Y What would be a refreshing thing to see then, if the hoops has no effect on sales either way, maybe the club could acknowledge that Reading FC have historically worn blue and white hoops, and that a portion of fans are vocal in seeing this on our annual kit refresh, that they will make every effort to keep that tradition - that would send a positve message to the fans that they do actually give a shit to what their customers actually prefer

percentage of RFC fans who give a oxf*rd about the hoops = 40%
percentage of that who actually buy shirts = 10%
percentage of that who give so much of a oxf*rd about the hoops theyd refuse to buy one that didnt have them = 20%

percentage ammounts of giving a oxf*rd the club should have towards this tiny number of fans= 0.8%

What about the %age of people who want to see their team play in TRADITIONAL colours - i.e. blue and white HOOPS - but don't want to buy the shirt every year? I bet it's about way more than 60%

Personally, I have contacted the club a couple of times about having hoops on the shirt. Some will vilify you if you are not prepared to give up all spare time and run a full-blown campaign. I totally disagree with brendy though, the poll on here showed weight of opinion (it was extremely significant even with a 180 sample) and I conclude brendy is out of touch with the heartbeat of the club.

I think the point is, as someone that has also contacted the club myself, you have to do it in numbers otherwise they just ignore you and palm you off because not enough complain and so the majority, in their eyes, are happy. Too many want to speak out online but are too lazy to actually write a letter/email and make their disapproval official.

I think everyone understands the problem of numbers being hard to read if there are hoops all the way round.

Why I can't get is why nobody at the club can seem to grasp that having an entirely white panel at the back isn't the only way round this.

Is having a white square big enough to contain a two-digit number, and hoops everywhere else, really such a difficult thing to comprehend?

Who really cares its only a oxf*rd shirt!

If those of you that want to vent your spleen because of the hoops, back panels, collars shapes etc, just give up your seat, and stay away.
Then you don't have to look at it.

What a fuking ado about nothing.

You, sir, are an idiot.

The shirt is the most important facet of the identity of the club. The shirt is the very thing you immediately associate with the club. It also represents tradition and history. We were the first club to wear the hoops. Our colour is always blue and white. We want to be proud of the team colours that our players play in.

If you think the shirt is not important, then you're are not a fan of this club.

Got to be the badge surely? Only thing that is unique to a football club. If every club used 92 different colours/patterns I could see that point. Maybe football kits should be more like what jockeys wear for individuality?

How many millions of people watched Comic Relief this year? (I don't know, but I do know it was in the millions)
How many people complained to the BBC about the Rowan Atkinson sketch? (I think it was somewhere between 100 and 200, but even if it was 400, that's an extremely low percentage of viewers who complained).
Were the BBC embarrassed? (Yes they were, and they apologised and I believe fined?)

My point is, just because only a very small percentage complained, they authorities/BBC didn't say "oh, well the majority of people who watched DIDN'T complain about the sketch, so it must have been loved."

Note: Living in Nepal I didn't see said sketch so have no opinion on it whatsoever.

True... I wouldn't have seen it if I'd been in England either. Don't watch that crap.
