Pitch

by Sanguine » 30 Dec 2014 09:24

Haven't seen this come up anywhere - but the state of the pitch on Sunday was shocking, it looked like an end of season pitch from the mid-90s, not a 28th December turf at a supposedly state-of-the-art stadium. Ball was bobbling around all over the place.

I don't get to loads of games a season, is this pretty normal at Madejski?

Egg chasers destroyed it on Boxing day

It looked a mess. Maybe two days isn't enough grassy TLC time after egg chasing. Haven't seen it that bad since the dawn of the egg,

Having games so close together won't have helped but it's been poor for a while. Not helped by the nudes oil heating getting damaged a few weeks back. It also didn't get relaid in the summer so it's probably getting near it's end of life anyway.
Noticed on TV last night the Anfield pitch was awful.

The club had no money in the summer to carry out repairs needed hence the poor state...

Just on a side note the worst areas of the pitch are those where rugby does no damage.....

Certainly worthy of comment, and we all know who is to blame. The silver lining, though, is that we no longer have a manager who will take no account whatsoever of the playing conditions when determining his style of play.

The good thing with our pitch is it does recover quickly, but this is very early for the pitch to suffer, so the groundsman will have his work cut out in his first winter in charge.

As I understand it the pitch wasn't relaid over the summer as it usually would be, cutting the cloth and all that.

Of course, it"s an easy target for the sportingly challenged amongst us !

Suspect in a couple of weeks Irish will be bemoaning the damage done to the pitch by the Wendyball match being played just 24 hours before their game.....
