Every kit in the last 10 years has been dreadful. I long for a simple royal blue and white hoops design without some hideous twist (horizontal strips - of increasing widths, greenish, totally blue/white above the chest - including arms, ridiculously deep hoops which can only accommodate 3 on the main body - traditionally we had narrow ones) but this ain't ever going to happen.

Quality-wise, the @ shirts were poor - the first one had fifth-form needlework quality stitching; the second one was too heavy and stiff.

Agree with Man Friday - except that the realisation of finally getting a decent kit manufacturer (Puma) was partially realised as the only season we had the first Puma kit, that was a really nice, relatively simple, kit.

I still fear what rubbish gimicks the new kit will have?

Harold Worst kit has to be the Yellow and Red hooped 3rd kit made by Brooks and later Pelada.

I dont think the red and yellow was ever made by brooks, it was always pelada...correct me if im wrong but im sure im not....i liked the yellow and blue hooped shirt (brooks/pelada)....the worst one i reckon is probably the red away one of 95 with the 'auto trader' in the great big stiched on white panel!!...looked awful!!....i dont think the tv interference shirt was that bad!!

I think this one looks a bit boring - I think we should stay true to our hoops home and away

I hated the home kit, one the first ones at the Madjeski.. it had 'faded' hoops, and a gay button IIRC and it was disguisting. Auto Trader too.

Can't agree. I thought the red and yellow hoops with black shorts was a brilliant change strip. Would love to get hold of one of these! Anyone got an XXL they want to sell?

And they do say Reading fans have no taste. Conclusive proof.

In a shirt I look for signs of symmetry, and in the new away shirt it hasn't got it. The yellow band down one side looks poor to me with the other side bare. As for the home shirt, just a decent symettrical design will do me. The best designed shirt in recent times was our 03/04 shirt, although it was a touch on the heavyweight in material quality.

In an away shirt i look for things such as colouring. If the colours are completely different to the home shirt then it's a big step in the right directionfor me. Then it just comes to design. The best away shirt we've had in recent years was the 01/02 & 02/03 2nd strip, the burgundy with navy patches. The black strip was (unusually for me) a good one, I'm not normally a fan of black strips but that was really good. The white strip I didn't see the point of seeing as half our home strip is white anyway. Blue and yellow hoops was pointless also, hence the red and yellow hoops (which I really liked also). The yellow strip of 00/01 was a good 3rd strip.

a bright orange away kit would be best. Remember the play off semi final against Wigan when all Reading fans wore Orange?

I feel the new away kit is the worst ever, ok, so the red is ok, but that yellow stripe looks terrible. I hate it.

In defiance to the unfairness of 1995 and that we should revert to the pelada kits of jim and mick era. they were heavy, and i totally regret never buying them. not sure why its defiance but it would be awesome. we would have to re-sign osborne and archie though. oh and dariusz. obviously.

I agree with it being the best. Damned garish but I thought they looked good.

I've been trying to dig out my old Hat Painting tv interference shirt, but can't find it anywhere.

I seem to recall we played Brighton in that strip when they had their salmon pink away kit. Not easy on the eye, that game!

Are there any votes yet for the Burns era monstrosity and our first season at the Mad Stad with the 'fading' hoops and different colour sleeves? Truly hideous and just about summed that period up!
