Mr Irascible Too many people are too far up their own arses!

Couldn't agree more, and you are certainly on of those.

Not sure why you feel the need to insult people because their views disagree with you!

I may have misunderstood your comment, but I'm sure you were the one who wrote about people being "up there own arses". Your comment seemed to me to be an insult aimed at people who have left early for various reasons, so to then have a go at someone who turns the insult on you is a bit a joke.

Another perfect example today. People who left 5 minutes before the end saw us draw with Sunderland - just like they would have seen us draw with Wigan and Newcastle if they'd left those matches early.

Absolutely unbelievable!

...those people leaving early yesterday to get back for Strictly Come Dancing, etc, you didn't miss much. It stayed 1-1. Thanks for your support nevertheless.

What about the hundreds that left before the game started, good job they include all sold seats rather than those that attend.

Haven't we done this one ad infinitum? My understanding is they count actual numbers through the turnstyles, not "all sold seats".

well we are within 100 of the nest ever crowd, there were a lot more empty seats than that.

They used to do it that way - now I think they count seats sold rather than bums on seats.

I stand corrected.

Well obviously I sit for most of the time, standing only during moments of intense excitement, or if I’ve shat myself. The two are not mutually exclusive.

It's not Christmas yet. I do hope you're not planning on leaving the board early.

traditionally* season ticket holders have been counted whether they turn up or not, but others are only counted if they do turn up. Given that sold out matches don't have exactly the same crowd figure, it's possible that the difference could be in numbers such as how many are in the executive boxes.

* when attendance was largely pay on the day, they always had to count assuming season ticket holders were there so in the event of a full house they'd close the doors when the capacity (season tickets holders + paying fans) had been reached, but without locking out season ticket holders.

Many ST holders were locked out of the Southbank in 1995 for the Bolton game. Some went in the away end before making themselves known to stewards who, er, took them into the Southbank.
