John Smith I won't be going. I want to preserve my memories of 2013 when I ended up about 6 rows further down than I began after the Le Fondre second and a 10 hour drive to get up there

That was a fantastic weekend.

For weeks I had booked my train from Euston up to Newcastle and was becoming really worried about the weather. The week of the game it was snowing. Me and GF went up on Friday and Newcastle was like a blizzard.

...

The whole of the Friday in Newcastle I spent slipping up and down the hill from the Travelodge into town. Had a good night out. I was on twitter most of the day and night trying to see if anyone knew if the game was going ahead.

Bad news came through when the players flight had been cancelled and they had to get a bus.

Saturday morning, went out into town and was very happy when the weather was bright and warmer, game was going ahead!

Game was great, really enjoyed the whole weekend and experience. Fantastic celebration when ALF got the goal to make it 2-1 win.

nearly died that weekend.
and lost hugo boss's keys to the minibus, which almost cost us about 200 quid to get new ones couriered up.

2nd only to the night I burgled his house in the -nights that make hugo h8 being m8s with brendy-top 50

Hugo Boss Keys? I thought they were clothes. Did you know he was Hitler's tailer? Used Jewish slave labour to make SS uniforms. Now he's a designer label! As long as it's not mid week will be up for that game.

Jobi and Mikel Leigertwood bought me jagerbombs in Tup Tup Palace that night and I managed to bag an orange tart on top of the win.

Stuff like that stays with you, it really does.

LUX
December 2006 was the best away day ever (sort of)

even though we lost.

midweek, 2000 of us there iirc.

No, best away day ever was Nottingham Forest 2011

Incorrect, that goes to West Ham 2-4 Reading.

Spin off thread :?:

I was at both of those and its pretty close, probably my two favourite away days.

I wasn't at either of those Newcastle away days though, I remember the one Lux mentions was an unlucky 3-2 defeat after leading 2-1, Harper with both goals. Despite the defeat it was one of the many great performances during an unforgettable season.

The 2013 win I'm sure was great as it was our first away win of the season after coming from 1-0 down, the only point that season where we seemed to have some real belief we could stay up and actually started showing some form and put some results together. Shame it didn't last long.

I've still not been to St James Park yet, maybe I'll go this year. I've been staying away recently so it depends how we're playing.
