Skin, it's not about buying a shirt that you like, it's about watching the players in a good kit. We want people to see this football team in hoops and then they to say "Ah, yes, it's those famous blue and white hoops, they'll win again today."

I think it would be better not to have hoops at all. QPR are the real hoops so Reading need their own identity.

I was thinking along the lines of red body and white arms.

That should make Gloria Gooner more of a Reading fan, if nothing else.

LOL at people thinking the back panel is for the fans. As has been said, no fan needs to look at shirt names/numbers to differentiate players. Nor is it really for the referee as the numbers are on the shorts, nearer the ball and therefore where the referee (should) be looking.

The law on panels was brought in for TV and commentators to make it easier to follow who was who. Its purely commercial.

I really dislike that the back of our shirt looks identical to Chelsea and Birmingham but am I the only one who likes the material?

Barry the bird boggler What we've already had down the years

1991/2 and 1998/9 have been by far the worst.

1992-94 (a) (3) best kits ever

Salford Royal As we've had this kit for 2 seasons, I imagine we will definitely have a new kit next season. With that in mind, is there any chance the fans can influence the design for once?

I have to say that our prem kit is in my opinion the worst we've had for quite a while. I don't like the sleeves, I don't like the collar, the material is rubbish and there are no hoops. Surely we can have a bit more input this time?

Failing that, it is possible that Puma (if they continue to make our kit) will already have a new template made, and will just need to put hoops on it. If we can't influence the design, can we please, please, please request a return to white shorts and socks?

I only want 2 things from the next kit - White shorts and proper hoops.

Stranded Am I the only person who couldn't give a rats what our kit looks like?

No! Huge waste of money if you stupid enough to part with the best part of £40 for one, and being Puma it's shit quality to boot.

I would though much prefer a return to white shorts and socks but it's unlikely from what I was told about 9 months ago when I enquired about the fans having a chance to have some input into a design and so on.

Maybe one day we'll be lucky enough to have a shirt which draws it's inspiration from a steward's jacket...

Wrong.

The Hat Painting TV interference shirt is the benchmark.

I find it astonishing that a back panel on a football shirt could create such debate and passion in a football fan.

Considering grown men should never wear replica shirts anyway (unless going to award show, or sat round pool in Costa Del Sol), then really who cares.

I have the opposite view, in that going to a match is the only time it's acceptable to wear a replica shirt. Any other time makes you look like a stinking coucil estate slob who enjoys collecting sweat in polyester for several days on end.

Sunderland don't have a panel on the back of their shirt, so a solid panel on the back can't be a must have in the prem

AF1 Good man.

I want white shorts, white socks and a top that doesn't look like someones grandma stitched it together.

The campaign starts NOW.

Anything else you want?

Song for Lita, white shorts, you've dropped the hoops so that's a plus i suppose...

I personally couldn't care less if the team turned out in tutu's and Dr Martens.

I support the team not the kit and if anyone was to say anything about us I'd rather it was "Reading, good team, they'll win today".
