Most Citeh fans I know up here are expecting an easy win and can't be arsed to go.......As for my Royals supporting friends, they ALL want a ticket. It matters far more to us. I expect a full away section and a half empty home section!

(RL)I sincerely hope that I am right too

Without the need to dramatise for effect

Reading are not going to pay for what they cannot sell............public opinion suggests that they will sell them....the 2800 is just the opening gambit

It is remarkable how the those reponsible for decisions relating to tickets manage to get it so wrong time after time after time.

How anyone can base the decision on how many tickets to have for an FA Cup q/f at a weekend on the travelling support in the championship and some midweek cup games beggers belief. It is incompetance on a remarkable scale and has denied 3000 fans a chance to see the game and denied the players twice the support.

Please Reading FC appoint someone who has the faintest idea of what they are doing.

AthleticoSpizz probably already mentioned on here somewhere...nevertheless....

Man City @ Wastelands are NOT anticipating a sell-out

We are entitled to a minimum of 15% of the total seats

However, at this stage, (if Reading were to claim the 6/7k tickets that they are entitled to) they have to be paid for up front, on a potentially non-refundable basis by the club regardless of how many they do or dont sell.

The two clubs are playing the common sense game at the moment.

There will be enough for those that want tickets I'm sure

It's been confirmed that we will only be getting 2,800, its on the OS. The club have cocked up, and it cannot be rectified because Citeh have sold seats in what would have been out area. There's no room for us all :(
WRONG

Its not on the Citeh OS

Citeh fans cannot currently purchase these "held" seats either

basically, these seats are not available to either set of supporters at this moment in time

City fans are currently being relocated from sections of their stadium that are closed into seats that we did not take up in our allocation.

wait and see

The blocks around our allocation were notified as "sold out" early last week on the Citeh website....(before they were actually put on sale).

Appointing some business professionals who have been/are real football supporters who have trekked all around the country supporting their team and therefore understand what makes supporters tick would be a good starting point!

Might I suggest you take a trip to the Bluemoon forum and have a chat with a few of their supporters (a pretty friendly bunch) if you truly believe there's hope of more tickets. They know exactly where tickets have been sold and there is no area left where we could be allocated seats.

The club would like to confirm that our allocation for this game will remain at 2,800, split across two tiers in the south stand. Clubs have to make their initial indication for ticket allocations when the draw for the relevant round is made, which in this case was back on 20th February, when neither ourselves nor Manchester City had been confirmed in this stage of the competition; we had to face Everton nine days later and they faced Aston Villa ten days later.

At that stage, we indicated to both Villa and City that circa 2,800 would be our preferred allocation, taking into full consideration that the game is live on television, takes place on a Sunday evening, and after analysing our away attendances at previous games of a similar nature. In the last three seasons we have taken more than 3,000 to an away game on just one occasion, Southampton away in late 2008, and for example we took 775 and 1,059 supporters to our replays at Liverpool and West Brom respectively last season, and 1,577 travelled to the north west for our play-off semi final at Burnley on a Saturday evening in May 2009.

When the deadline came to finalise our allocation on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after our win at Everton, free coach travel had naturally not been discussed and could not have an impact on our decision at that time.

Given that we have now confirmed free coach travel for all of our supporters, and appreciating that demand could potentially go beyond this allocation, we immediately approached Manchester City to investigate all possibilities. Unfortunately, after discussions took place, this was not possible; City went on sale immediately after their game with Aston Villa, and a considerable number of seats in adjacent areas had been sold to City season ticket holders and their supporters. Bearing in mind the level of projected demand from their own supporters, City are not opening the top tier on the sides of the ground, but after discussions with their safety officer it is not viable to move supporters into those areas.

Had we received a larger allocation, the club would of course have paid for free travel for those extra supporters going to the game. As it stands, with 2,800 vocal, loyal supporters behind us, we are giving the team fantastic backing and a great chance of success. The offer of free coach travel is a reward for our loyal fans and we look forward to a great atmosphere in Manchester.

I think the bits in bold spell it out

It takes some remarkable stupidity to engineer a situation where thousands of our fans are denied the opportunity to see one of the biggest cup games in our history in a stadium that won't even open all it's sections such is the anticipated lack of demand.

Someone should resign/be sacked.

what with the season tickets feck up now this, a very well ran club
what they should have done is to pay and reserve your ticket on the wednesday and then all the loyal royal could have got tickets then go to the club on friday with how many we want and then the club would not lose money on un sold tickets

The business managers at RFC truly are a spineless bunch getting McDermott to front the annoucement that they have completely cocked things up!

Shame McDermott doesn't also say that failing to allow more than 2,800 of our fans to even go to the game is a fantastic cock up!

Then, just to add insult to injury they assure us what genuine caring people they are by telling us that they would, of course, have paid for free coach travel had they got things right and secured more than 2,800 tickets!!

Yeah, right!!!

Very easy to say after the event when they know they aren't going to have to deliver on it.

The sentence about getting in touch with City to see if there were more tickets avaliable AFTER the free coach travel decision shows they KNEW they'd cocked up! What a farce!
