Stuka I wasn't able to attend yesterday's game but I see that it's business as usual with the nauseating pre-match rubbish. It's completely unnecessary, embarrassing, and tacky.

I guess you're easily embarrassed.

It was embarrassing though...

To who? Read the programme, have a beer, make a wager, then enjoy the game. What's to be embarrassed about, every club does this stuff to some extent.

Exactly. I doubt Stoke give a flying one what we think of them so why should we care what they think of us?

LoyalRoyalFan Is absolutely dire, has been for some time and we need action.

New mascot?!

The Big Bad Wolf song played about 5 times before kick-off?

Annoying clappers.

Sort it out!

Football needs to cater ALL people not just you! Kids around us loved the new mascot and although I found song sheet cringe worthy others appreciated it and whatever you say, those clappers work!

100% Agreed.

I don't find this constant criticism of clappers or song sheets constructive at all. May I suggest that when you criticise you give a viable alternative. I like The Big Bad Wolf, but I also think the Reading Anthem should be our number one song and played just before kick off. We shouldn't drop our history.

I don't see the harm in the new mascot. It just seems like a bit of fun. It could be a lot worse - Have you seen Donny and Mooie at MK Dons? Cringe. Hehe.

Overall our club is fantastically well run. We have a great deal to celebrate. But got to find something to whinge about eh?!

The Robbie Savage dance thing at halftime last season was cringeworthy. I guess the RFC idea of entertainment just isn't to my taste.

Here's a revolutionary idea- just football. No music other than maybe a yet to be determined Club Anthem, no dancing, no whooping PA announcers, rubblestix or song sheets, just a football match.

I didn't even notice it. Was too busy reading my programme and having a beer.

Same. The way I see it, the players want to hear that and The Big Bad Wolf and so, whatever, I may think of it - I'll sing along or clap or whatever if I think it's going to gee the lads up. 12 year old "cheerleaders" and a female friend for Kingsley are a different matter altogether however!

Not claiming that, just surprised how many people get wound up about features of matchday that I’ve always ignored, and tbh assumed most others did the same.

In for Impossible Dream, out for most other things. If people want to use clappers, fine, no skin off my nose. Queensloley was a massive cringe though. A thinly veiled attempt at trying to encourage younger female support. And they wonder why we have such a poor atmosphere?

The thing is, aside from Mr Woo, the best half-time "entertainment" was the penalty shoot outs at Elm Park - where they had the use of the big goals - far more entertaining than the current form and because they played right across the pitch, the fans used to cheer them on, complete with pantomime boos from the away end when a kid would lift his shirt up to reveal a Reading shirt underneath.

Fwiw I’ve always thought that football-related fans games are what the club should look to do at half-time – hit the crossbar for a prize, penalty shoot-outs, hit the corner flag etc, with an ever increasing jackpot.

But would that make you put down your beer and programme?

Probably not, but it might garner a passing interest from time to time.

If you're going to have a beer to put down, the entertainment will need to be provided inside the concourses. Otherwise the entertainment will be watching a number of stewards descend on you.
