Some things are just beyond comprehension. Why would that nice young lady choose to sit where she is when there is a perfectly good settee behind her that is not in use?

Yeah because the purchase of the training ground, committing to build it, getting Cat 1 status (min £2m a year) keeping AMc, AP, HRK, AlF, and signing RD, DW & WB means he has no money.

You fool.

Bit spiteful.

Sorry EP I regret my tarnish. It was a build up of reading a million kids say we've done nothing and spent nothing

the 2 million is the minimum yearly spend on keeping it going/paying coaches etc
the cost of upgrading our facilities to meet the assessors requirements will be much higher than that i imagine

Doesn't seem to have been an update on the final handover of SJM's 49% which was supposed to happen today. Very quiet.

It's not exactly date critical. I'm sure it will go through before the close of the year.

Someone at the game today told me that there is a clause in the purchase contract that states if the 2nd payment is not paid by the due date then SJM can buy the club back for £1.

Anyone know anything about this?

im not sure what you mean tbf

just seems to point towards a pretty rational explanation of our failure in the window
and reminds us also that while QPR and Wigan may have outperformed us in that window that has more to do with their owners being willing to plough more money in, which we already knew
and also thawhile they have spent more, they have actually sold alot more too, and the three clubs net spend is about the same

Funny that, cos Nicky Hammond was at pains to point out during his radio interview last week that QPR and Wigan weren't spending anything either.....

not quite

theyve spent more, but sold alot more too

comparing us to them is a bit pointless without that kind of info included- and will result in hand wringing, conspiracy theories , and silliness

Well, try telling Hammond that - because he CLEARLY made the statement on BBCRB that the other teams who came down with us did not spend any money either. Your defence of the club is quite cute, but sometimes you are quite wrong.

I have to support Royal Lady on this. Hammond couldn't even get his explanation/justification/excuse right. He clearly and very incorrectly stated that they weren't spending. He could have correctly stated that they spent less than they received in. However, in the case of QPR at least, that has still made it possible for them to rebalance their squad in the manner that Harry desired. Hammond should have allowed Adkins to do the same thing but, either through a deliberate choice or incompetence, didn't.

Oh, and good old Mr Williams did a Dellor and completely let his mate 'Hammo' off the hook, although to be fair, he did acknowledge that on twitter later.

I still think it's unfair to blame Hammond though - he can only go out and help Adkins get in what he need with what he is allowed to spend and that budget comes from TSI - I lay the blame fully at TSI's shoulders here. Either tell us we need to be prudent for the next couple of years, but at the end of that time they fully expect us to be in a position where we will more than compete for the big names and our aim is to get to PL and stay there - or they tell us that having planned to spend on infrastructure there will be little money left to spend on the best players available, but our with the infrastructure in place, Academy, Training facilities etc, we will be churning out top quality players of our own and won't need to rely on always buying in. Or they just don't bother bigging themselves/the club up and let us all realise that we're never going to be able to compete with a lot of the other clubs and if we get to the PL we should just enjoy the journey, because they doubt they'll be able to support us to maintain a position in that league.

Hammond, Madejski and Howe = Reading Way
Anton and Adkins = Not the Reading Way

Both parties clash. I think we'll see a more ambitious Reading when SJM moves on, and Howe and Hammond wont be far behind him.

More ambitious. But I certainly don't expect it to brash and unrealistic.

Zingarevich is in it for the long haul, he would not be spending on infrastructure like he is where he not.

He's not chasing titles etc

He has got high expectations though, and is a little naive with his talking to the press. under promise over deliver etc

He's still confusing his wants, with what is realistic.
