I understand that illness forced them to withdraw less than a week ago. The club are actively looking for a replacement.

BTW it's not just the East Stand, it's the whole stadium.

Depends which of the bookies you saw?? One of them has been very ill over the summer, and that comes from a staff member that worked for them all the time they had the concession.

Suppose this is a good as aplace as any to ask,

Are the odds any good at these stands, or are they better in the more mainstream bookies?

Under the old owner, the odds were generally sh*t.

Hopefully with a new bookie will come better odds though...

Seems unlikely to me - why would a bookie offer competitive odds when the majority of his customers won't be price sensitive, and when he has a monopoly on the match day bookmaking.

It's as unlikely as being charged high street prices for a pie and a pint.

also very hard to run a balanced book, tho he does have other activities, RFC was just difficult to make a lot on, as there was no profit in opposite bets.

you're right in the sense you wouldn't expect a balanced book as most people will be betting on a Reading victory, but it wouldn't be hard to trade the bets off elsewhere, the worlds leading betting exchange for one.
