Was that queue for the 1971/72 Arsenal FA Cup game? If so, I was in there somewhere. I can remember the queue going right around Elm Park and beyond with tickets being sold out of a ticket office that wasn't much bigger than a walk in wardrobe! IIRC Brenda in the ticket office used to be quite a looker!

I was there too. Queued for 4 hours I think. I tried to see if I was in any of the photos but to be honest I don't think I'd recognise me as a 16 year old!

Yes I remember it well. I can't see us in the picture but my ex-wife (then my girlfriend) and I got to Norfolk Road in the early hours thinking we would be first in line only to find that there were around 20 people already there. Got two tickets in the stand and sat next to two Arsenal supporters who spent the entire game complaining about the state of the pitch and that it was worth a goal to us. Was gutted when Stuart Morgan scored the own goal. He was a great bloke & one of my favourits at the time.

I remember Soton in 78 you had to go to the York game to get a voucher that secured you a ticket for the game. Which was good work by the club as 12,000 turned up for York double the season's average and 25,000 for the Soton game.

It was Barrow. Same trick, raised the crowd to 11,000.

I know what you mean. I suspect most people don't realise that they are colour photographs ..... that's how things looked then.

Much better in 95. They sold tickets at the South Bank turnstiles with a different turnstile for each price category. We were at the front of the queue for the most expensive seats and spent so long negotiating our exact seat row and number that after we got our tickets the staff were told not to allow people to choose their seats!

tbf he was a school friend of my ex hub and he went to a few games with him.
