Bars in the North Stand

by Ralph Jolly » 16 Sep 2012 22:03

I'm prettty sure that bars in the North Stand were meant to be open until 7pm tonight, bit of a shame that none of the stewards/staff the north stand were aware of that. Checked with the stewards at Shooters who confirmed that the north stand bars were meant to be open.

Basically, WTF is going on!

I think that they are only open when we win

Too many folk had left before the end of the game, and I guess a financial decision was made (two or three staff @£6.08ph versus a dozen or so pints of their fayre sold)

Either that, or its the lords day and they all had to race off for evensong

The North stand bar was open. We went there and had a pint. Only about 15 people were there and the bar staff (6 - 7 of them) said they would only be open for an hour. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they stop doing it because of the small numbers of people using it.

I was there too and we got moved on by security before we'd finished our pints, probably by about 6.40pm. Only went to avoid the scrums in the Jazz and Hotel.

I managed to get into the hotel but could not get near the bar. Shutting the upstairs so a dozen or so posh types can have it to themselves looks a bad move to me. They must be losing shedloads in takings.

The only reason I knew it was open was because of HNA. Not sure if the club have really made an effort to publicise it. My guess is that nobody knows its open.

Dear Sirs

I have been a season ticket holder for 16 years in the West Upper. I note that the upper bar is no longer available after the game. Normally many of us will socialise after the game rather than spending 30-40 minutes sat in the car waiting for the car park to clear. With the added numbers in the lower bar it will take almost as long to get a drink as leave the car park. Would it be possible to keep the concourse bars open after the game to allow a celebratory or drowning of sorrows beer after the game? I would be interested to know why this decision has been made. Is it another case of the corporate sponsors getting preference over the loyal supporter?

Thank you for your email.

When we reached the Premier League, we expanded the amount of packages on offer within our Hospitality. When we were not in the Premier League not all of the rooms were in use, and our management team and guests had a room they could use.

Due to the increased packages, they have now been moved to the Windsor Lounge. This area will also be used for all hospitality guests as a bar area. This is the same situation as to when we were in the Premier League the first time.

I apologise for the disappointment that this has caused you and other supporters, and although I appreciate it is not a replacement for the Windsor bar we are currently keeping the North Stand concourse open after the match for supporters to have a drink.

Kind Regards

Repeat - not true. Upstairs in the hotel was open last time we were in the Prem - though the space was restricted.

I think the club have kinda told you they are more interested in 'increased packages' than regular fans enjoying themselves here. Sadly predictable.
