SPARTA
BraisingsteakRoyal I've decided that i'm out for now. Unless we get hold of some players that make it even 1% worth giving my saturday afternoons up for, i'll be staying out.

Just out of interest, how old are you? You sound like a petulant newbie who has no idea what it means to support a football club through thick and thin, the good days and the bad days!

+1
These are glory days compared to some of the shite I have put up with over the many years of supporting Reading

I'd like for the above to replace 'I BELONG' as RFC's season ticket propaganda slogan of choice

Too right. No matter how poor people thought we were last year it was a joy compared with some of the dross that preceded it over the years. Many years in the 3rd and 4th tier. The days of Bullivant, then Burns, then the frustration in the (Pardew & Gorman?) days that led to Pants Day.
Watching Mark Reilly in a Royals shirt and thinking "how can someone that bad be paid money to play football?"

I am not renewing my ST having had one every season since 1989/90. Here are my reasons for not renewing, in order of preference:

1. Im falling out of love with the game at professional level.
2. Matchday experience at the Madejski. In short, the ground is full of complete twats these days.
3. The players. This is one of the most talented squads we've ever had but I really dislike a lot of them. Drenthe and Guthrie I really really dislike. Overpaid prima donnas who are leaching off the club.
4. Nigel Adkins. Cant stand the bloke and he has imposed a style of play that is truly dreadful to watch.

According to the poll, only 59% renewing? That's a very low figure. From the people I have spoken to, it seems a lot of those not renewing are long term ST holders. That's a pretty sad state of affairs and speaks volumes.

If some of the above change I might renew in August but at the moment I am not. Im genuinely sad that I feel the way I do about the club, but that's the way it is. Recent results have absolutely nothing to do with it.

15% not renewing is nothing to do with the football. Undecided 20% (with the poll running since February many could have made up their mind either way by now probably boosting that 59% at least some).

I reckon anything above 10,000 STHs is ok. above 12,000 is actively good.

HNA is more negative than any site I know, whether that's warranted or not. I also don't get the same negativity of other fans who don't use this forum.

I believe at least 14'000 will renew.

Did we even have 14,000 this season? I thought the max was 16,000!

With our keenly priced ST's, we may get in excess of 14k

But (as in all seasons) they wont all be renewals

Club used to state how many have been sold.....

At a guess we are down on previous years.

ROFL - pot kettle etc.

Who's moaning? This thread asked a question and I answered. FWIW i'll probably still go to a few games when i've got nothing better to do (like scratching my ball bag or gardening) - I just don't want to commit to week in, week out.

I'm too old and cynical to have the unwavering desire to support a bunch men that I would almost certainly despise if i met in real life in the name of 'supporting a football club', yet young enough to have better things to do with my time.

It's a difficult age, i'll admit.

It's been said before, but the club's slogan of "BELONG" is so shiit.

Got an email thanking me for renewing and saying "We Belong Together". And also "Thank you for choosing to BELONG".

It's just meaningless

Agreed, just got the email that said "Thank you for choosing to BELONG" and did a slow oxf*rd sign at the screen.

btw, one thing I don't agree with is the mentality that a season is a good season because eg. "it's our tenth highest finish in our history" or that the product on offer is actually of high quality because "it used to be properly shit back when we were in the 4th division"

You don't judge the quality of your Saturday afternoon's entertainment by placing it in a long-term historical context anymore than you would praise a 10 hour wait at A+E because "well back in the days of Nelson there wasn't an NHS and they just amputated broken arms anyway"

Hope no one has thrown away last seasons card... rather than sending a new one out as per usual, the club will keep it active. Cost saving.

They don't send a new one out "as per usual" though. They only seem to do that when we get promoted so they can add the PL logo. aving said that, I wouldn't have been surprised if they issued special "I bemong" cards this year

Fair enough, although I'm sure I got a new one again last summer as well. Makes perfect sense tho.
