Just looking at this as may struggle to get to Derby. To get there on train according to Trainline ,you have to get a bus from oxf*rd Billericay!!

Um, oxf*rd that!!

absolutely, and with Ipswich having extortionate ticket prices i'm 100% giving this the swerve. 65 minutes on a bus after the game full of beer does not appeal with me at all

wonder if STAR will put a strongly worded release on their website relating to this

Travel cost, distance, ticket prices, and Ipswich is a dump. It's up there with the worst away days in the Championship imo.

TBF to Ipswich, whilst Adult prices are £32.50  , U16s are only £1 and if you opt for the Family Area, the Adult price reduces by £5.
On that basis I'm IN.

Im gonna be driving to this one, anyone done the route before? A lot of M25 it seems, says 2.5 hours on AA route planner.

Never been to the ground before - ticking it off the list

If the question is "Have I ever driven to Ipswich" then the answer would be yes.

Stopped off for a cup of tea in Ingatestone. Nice little town TBF.

Last time I drove I parked at the station, wasn't too bad getting out. It was pretty handy for the Riverside pub.

Leave M25 at Junction 28 and it's A12 virtually all the way. It's a long drive back (especially if we lose) and I wouldn't say it was one of the best away days. Crap away area where you don't get a great atmosphere (and they don't give much). Concourse old fashioned basic. All for the most expensive ticket in the league?
See you there then!!

Did it a good few years ago. 2.5 hours sounds highly optimistic. Almost half of the M25 then the A12 seems to go on forever.
After yesterday's motorway chaos suggest leaving now to make it in time.

An alternative is to come off the M25 a bit earlier and go up the M11 cu across to Newmarket and then come back down the A14 to Ipswich. I used to live there and that was always a good alternative if the other route was busy.

The only time I've been was the 3-2 win a few years ago when we scored twice in injury time to nick it. I don't think thats beatable and so I won't be returning. The view from the away end is great, though.

Why? It's an utterly shit and expensive day out.

Be prepared to be told off by OAPs behind you if you dare to stand up to see what's going on in the left hand corner of the pitch.
