I do understand why he pisses people off but how difficult is it really to just stay in the concourse or just switch off until the game actually kicks off.

It's pretty obvious that the non footballing matchday "entertainment" and hype isn't aimed at the likes of me so really I can just ignore it. Maybe the volume isn't as loud from my lofty position in the Upper west ;-)

He's been more tolerable recently - the only thing I dislike is that he continues on with the shouting after "back the boys and make some noise". Stop there, you don't need any more.

Hi Bobby, long time listener first time caller. Can you explain what you mean by 'inappropriate stuff'? I am attending my first home game of the season Saturday and I want to know what I can expect from this PA announcer I have heard so much about

Not to jump on Bobby's soapbox here but I genuinely think you may kill yourself when you hear him.

It is aural AIDs.

It's so ear numbingly painful that I've forced myself to blank out most of what he shrieks down the microphone. I believe you will have to consume lots of fermented vegetable drinks in order to deal with the situation.

I also believe that he will be even more insufferable on Saturday with it being an FA Cup game against premiership opposition with a half decent crowd in.

Imagine the guy that announces the acts on X Factor mixed with the guy that used to do bully's prize board on Bullseye. Then add a high pitched shriek at the end and you nearly there!

On the other hand, he could go die quietly somewhere out of earshot and let the rest of us enjoy what we've PAID to watch.

It's great to see I'm not alone in being pig sick of getting deafened by this prize pr*ck and his endless drivel

Posted this for balance. As has been said, he's getting better. It may just be the case that people are resistant to change, but he was poor when he started. Now he seems about the same as the old bloke!

Congratulations to him, looks like a well deserved award and there are lots of local coaches in lots of sports who don't get the recognition they deserve.
Doesn't excuse the PA stuff obviously, but I would agree that he seems to have calmed down a bit and realised we there to watch the game, not listen to him.

Was a lot better pre match. Then went back to his old self at the start of the second half.

Seemed like he couldn't help himself

My solution is to take my seat at 2:59, I'm hoping it doesn't catch on with other people. Actually it would be good for the Lols if the stadium became completely empty when he started drivelling.

Like a junkie going back into the crack den.

He also called Stephane Sessegnon 'Steffan Sigurdsson' and mispronounced many names of their players, which any football fan should reasonably be able to pronounce.

The first half was more encouraging, though. He still adds little flourishes like 'under the stewardship of...' and even 'under the managership of...' when announcing the managers of each team, which piss me right off, but he's improving.

Was definatly better in the first half Saturday!

Imagine if we get to Wembley - I assume we will take him as we took Paul Allen last year - I'm sure he would have a field day infront of 90,000!

Think the minute's applause probably stopped him waffling on pre-match. That said the build-up was good with the Royals Anthem and even the 13 flag getting dusted off for the big match.

Mid way through the second half, I realised that I hadn't been irritated by him. Hopefully that is reflects on him doing a better job, rather than me somehow blocking him out.

FA 1/4 final could be a tough one for him. Plenty of tourists likely to attend for him to play up to.
