NathStPaul Would like us to heavily reduce the costs for midweek games, we have to get people in through the gate. It has been awful for a few seasons now, even when we have been doing relatively well.

I’ve thought for a while the club should sell weekend season tickets (ie. season tickets only for games played on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), especially for the younger age groups. This would minimise the number of seats ‘sold but vacant’ during midweek and perhaps encourage more people who can’t get to midweek games due to work commitments to be ‘locked in’ for the season.

The club could do offers with local businesses (eg. those in Green Park) for reduced price tickets to increase attendances during midweek.

I think the club need to have a little more imagination when it comes to midweek tickets to encourage higher crowds.

More free tickets to schools and on a more regular basis always helps boost crowds, and those kids are our future fanbase.

Maybe some bulk ticket deals. Buy 3 tickets and get a 4th half price. Buy 5 tickets and get a 6th free. A family ticket for 2 adults, 2 kids/2 pensioners for a reduced price...

We should definitely look to incentivise ticket sales.

If you do that, away fans cry over "preferential pricing", so these sorts of "local promotions" as they've called are only allowed three times a season I think. (I'm a bit out of date with the rules, but it certainly used to be like that a few years ago.)

Commercial suicide - I imagine if you did that you would just be replacing "sold but vacant" seats with "vacant" seats.

Why doesn't the club do the following:

Freeze season ticket prices but offer season ticket holders say 50% off any cup games. Reward those who go to games every week.

The club should pay us to go and see the Pizza Cup.

Because the cup rules say you're not allowed to do that without the agreement of the away club, and such discounts would need to be passed on to away fans.

Cup revenue is split between clubs and the competition organiser.

Ugh forgot about that. At least if they do it for the Papa Johns cup we might get a few more in to see us get humiliated by Brighton's under 21s.

Yep, £25 increase for SJM stand. Was probably to be expected.

Eamon Dolan Stand is £350 (renewal price w/o a kid) vs £305 for the last decade or so.

As per usual twitter is imploding on itself while conveniently forgetting the fact the prices have been frozen for fuck knows how long.

10+ years.

People love being outraged and bashing the club, when in reality:

a) ticket prices should probably have gone up ages ago.
b) ticket prices are comparable with other L1 teams, and I am sure probably still cheaper than some L2 teams.

I blame the cakeism of the last decade...

you can have a sustainable team or a competitive team

you can have a rich owner or you can pay for things as fans

If people think you can have it all, they are deluding themselves...

Don't mind the price rise, but cannot believe this is the first communication from the club since relegation. Not even had the retained list yet lol. Nothing from Bowen or Chairman. Obviously I'll renew, but would be nice to see some plan in place for the next 12 months.

Would have thought it might be a freeze but ultimately a small increase, not sure what to make of it as the ST prices were always on the lower end in the Championship, probably still the case in League One.

Whilst a) may be true, I see little relevance in what other teams might charge. Supporting a team is not the same as buying food or even going to the cinema. For most people it's not going to be a question of shopping around to get a better price or even saying it would cost as much or more elsewhere. It's pretty much a digital choice. They either pay to go to see their team play or they don't go to a game at all.

This increase, whether overdue/justified or not, will doubtless make some more decide not to renew, or pick and choose their games, particularly when there is so much uncertainty around the club.

Renewal was £325 last year

Perfectly reasonable explanation on the club announcement for the rise, absolutely no surprise to see people losing their shit about it. You have to wonder what the owners do it for

ED family stand renewal is £330. 12 and under still £23. I think that’s roughly what it was last year but may be wrong

Still very cheap relatively, esp the kids tickets

And when I say relatively that’s relative to any other form of ‘entertainment’ (obvs jokes aside)

Can’t think of anything much you can do for a couple of hours with 1 adult and 2 kids costing roughly £15

Plenty of stiff competition in League One.
