Brighton U21s (League Trophy)

by Clyde1998 » 14 Dec 2023 15:17

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2023/d ... lbion-u21/

Game arranged for Tuesday 9 January 2024 with a 7pm kick-off and confirmed to be at the Amex.

Shame it wasn't arranged for the weekend, given our league game against Stevenage will be postponed after they got to the third round of the FA Cup.

EDIT: From the Brighton website: adult tickets will be £10 and under 18s and over 65s will be £5.

Wouldn't it be better to play the postponed fixture against Derby that day? It would mean a better attendance than another mid-week game.(by both the home and away fans).

Apparently they've already got a league game scheduled for that day - I'm guessing the game they were supposed to be playing then wasn't postponed due to themselves and whoever they're playing not making it to the third round.

Yes, they have Fleetwood on that day.

Imagine Brighton didn't want to play at the weekend as some of the players likely to be in the team for this will be involved in their own FA Cup tie.

Tickets are being sold via the Brighton website: link.

All tickets are being sold in the West Stand (long the side of the pitch on the same side as the technical area) and we have an initial allocation of 921 - I'm sure more blocks will open up should there be demand.

Reading fans should purchase tickets in the blocks coloured red (W1C and W1D). Tickets are only available as mobile tickets or print at home tickets - print at home has a surcharge of £2.50.

We've sold 89 for this at the time of writing; Brighton have sold 61 (not including disabled seats).

Having witnessed some good tussles against Brighton over the last 30+ years, I can’t bring myself to think about this game. It just serves as a painful reminder of a club that’s been well run and one that’s been oxf*rd. Hopefully, we can win and get a decent draw in the last 8.

Embarrassing we're having to play this clubs kids, shows how far we've fallen. Let's smash them and get ourselves in the quarters.

The latest estimate is 215 Reading tickets sold and 115 Brighton tickets sold - for 330 total. Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up less than 1,000 overall.

I am surprised that they didn’t switch the game. 3 to 5k at the SCL would been better.

I'm more surprised they didn't decide to play the game on the weekend after it was clear our game against Stevenage would be postponed - you've got more going regardless of where the game was played. Switching the game probably would've made sense too, but understand Brighton wouldn't want to give up home advantage.

Saw a news article for 'tickets' on the club website - thought it would be them announcing the Wigan ticket details. No: a reminder of this game.

Anyway: the latest estimate is 284 Reading tickets sold and 137 Brighton tickets sold: 421 total. That takes us ahead of what we took to Exeter in this competition earlier in the season (281).

A further 73 tickets have been sold for this one, taking our sales to 357. Would be great to get to 500.

Brighton have sold an additional 77 tickets (214); 571 tickets have been purchased in overall.
