Look on the brightside, at least we aren't playing them away!

addsrfc You should go to support your team no matter who they are playing just because we're in the prem now doesnt mean the team doesnt need our support against smaller teams

I haven't attended Carling Cup games for a number of years, so I see no reason to change just because we're in the Premiership.

In my opinion Reading deserve a decent crowd. It will be low prices and, lets face it, why cant Reading do as well as Wigan did last season? Most the top sides dont field their first teams until the later rounds.

As for whats more attractive, Highbury or watching Reading at home to Darlington is a ridiculous argument.

If your a Reading fan you watch Reading. End of story. Doesnt matter if we are playing Darlington or Arsenal, if Reading are playing and you support Reading you should watch them.

As for the 7,000 that went to Highbury, they should all be there against Darlington. Surely they went to watch Reading and not to see Arsenals old ground!

I confess to saving my money and not usually bothering with the Carling Cup, but will be going to this one to take a look at Bikey, Máté and de la Cruz in action.

I think Boyd should give out 20 Royalty Points for every ticket bought. £10 a ticket.

Bet there would be a lot caught in that particular net.

I went to watch our make shift team play a game against Arsenal reserves, so I could see Highbury for the last time as well.

Jerry St Clair
Huntley & Palmer Then I can envisage less than 7000 there

What's the lowest we've had at the Mad for one of these games? 5k against Orient?

I reckon it'll be around that.

I do agree with you.

However, I bought an away/home season ticket and am really watching what I buy. E.g. not buying the new shirt, and giving up things elsewhere.

If it is £10 then I don't think I'll go. Money is tight enough as it is.

To be fair, the club/team will have priorities this season, so they could hardly complain if the fans also have priorities. Staying up is clearly the prime goal this season, and I doubt we'll risk much to jeapardise that. 18,000 fans have already paid out large sums to support the club in this mission; I can understand if they are wary of advancing more, especially in a competition in which we have shown so little interest in the last few years. If I'm still in Manchester by the time we play Darlo, I won't be driving down for it.

I've got to buy 2 tickets, mine and one in the away end

I think i'm the only person pleased with this tie as I know some Darlo fans and i've been wanting them in the cup for a while

I agree with the point that you watch Reading play, I don't care who we play or where or when because I will be there

As you have an Away Season ticket you must be very thankful that it is a home tie. The AST includes all cup matches !!!

It's be interesting if we did get as far as the final, and those that bought tickets for this game against Darlo got priority over other people with x amount of Royalty Points.

If we got to the final, I think there'd be enough seats to cater for everyone - even the other 22,000 who managed to "support" us in the play off finals.

There would be enough for one per ST holder, then another batch on top of that

When we were in the 4th division cup games like this were ones we would look at and say, we can win this and may get Liverpool in the next round. I remeber drawing Everton away after an early round victory. How times have changed.

Times haven't changed all that much. I still think we can win this one.

Only if it's what you want to do, can afford to do and are able to do.

I'm going and would rather have a crowd of 500 who want to be there than a crowd of 24,000 who are only there to ensure they pick up the 8,000 royalty points for turning up that will allow them to qualify for tickets against Chelsea or Arsenal.
