There's nothing on the planning website, however that may be because the club may have requested for it to not be availiable.

If you search Shooters Way on the Reading Borough Council PublicAccess website you'll find 12 entries and so far only the Scoping Study for the expansion has been published.

I have it on good authority that once the hotel expansion is finished the club will start on the stadium.

Update 22/01/07

Chief Executive Nigel Howe has confirmed that the Club's planning application for the expansion of Madejski Stadium will be submitted to Reading Borough Council this week.

Nigel told readingfc.co.uk, "Our planning application will be considered by the council and we anticipate receiving approval in the spring

"This would allow us to start preliminary works in the close season and we could then commence building works on the East Stand in August or September.

"The works should not affect the normal seating positions in the East Stand as the construction would take place behind the existing stand.

"The new seats would be available for use from the start of the 2008/9 season, with the new capacity of the stadium at around 30,000 with an additional 6,000 seats in the East Stand.

"When that work is completed, we could then start work on the South and North Stands to eventually take the total capacity up to between 37,000 and 38,000."

That almost guarantees several angry season ticket holders will find they no longer have their seats!

Is this in line with what we were previously told? Are we not missing the boat for 2007/2008.

Surely if they would have got there act together work could have started earlier.

Looks like the same capacity for next season, which is a shame. I was hoping we'd see a North or South Stand built on by xmas. And looks like the club made the call that it's the East Stand that gets the nod first. 8)

i suppose you have to bear in mind the possibility of us going down next season, which could put a halt to the expansion.

If they extended the North & South & then shelved the East due to relegation, the ground would look a bit odd. Not so if they do the East first.
