Newcastle Away - Tickets & Hotels

by Row Z Royal » 04 Mar 2008 13:24

I realise it's a month away, but I'll need to know when that particular outlay is going to be made and, of course, we need a hotel room.

Any ideas when they go on sale?

Going on the recent trend for away games, I'd hazard a guess at 2 weeks before the game - in this case Tuesday 25th March (the Tuesday after Easter).

As for hotel rooms; good luck on that front - I was looking for rooms last week and there is a distinct lack of availability in the city centre!

Stayed there this weekend for the Boro game. Well worth trying nearer the time, we swapped rooms from the city centre Premier Inn to the one on the Quayside 4 days before. No availablity at that hotel 4 weeks before. And Newcastle were at home. Presume a lot of stag/hen weekend block room bookings get reduced/cancelled nearer the time.

There are spaces at the Newcastle Whitemare Pool Travellodge - 56 quid a night. https://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hotel/hotel.php?hotel_id=216

Stayed there a few months ago and it's a taxi ride of about 7-8 quid into the City Centre. That's where I'll be.

Just stay at the Britannia Hotel near the airport, only a 20 minute ride in from the City centre on the Metro

Believe we're staying somewhere in Gateshead which i believe is £35 for the night.

Taxi's cost sweet F.A. from what i've been told so getting there and back won't cost you bugger all pints.

Exactly what I'll be doing - I've got a room reserved in a hotel in the city centre but will be looking at getting a cheaper and better room all the way up to the day of the game...

We're in the Marriott near the Metro Centre. Plenty of rooms left, if a little pricey. About £80 a room (though you can get three in). It's on the Metro, too.

I told Carla that she is to refuse the ticket you keep offering

The ticket is worth £35. That's more than I'd normally pay for personal services. It's a cracking offer.

Tried a couple (Jurys) yesterday with no joy. Have pursuaded Mrs SWLR to take whole family up for the weekend. Going by train so looking for a central hotel preferably, or one close to a metro stop.
Any suggestions welcome.
It appears Newcastle is one of the few Cities where rooms are more expensive at the weekend than duing the week.

Two nights booked in the Jury's Inn back in January - £68.00 a night, but might try to get a last-minute cheapie elsewhere...

First a free flight, now a free hotel room - all the more money to spend on booze

Be a bit careful about cancelling late notice if you get something else though. A couple of places I looked at will charge a fee even if you tell them you are not showing up. I guess they have got their fingers burnt a few times by stag/hen do's etc.....

Stay over night in Durham. If you fail to pull, you're a ghey.
