CMRoyal Yeah, the cost of travel's a bugbear with me too. But I'm a tightass, I eat and drink before leaving for the match. It's not an Arctic expedition - I can go five hours without sustenance.

Close to 8 and a half hours (for me) without eating is not my idea of a nice time. Besides, food and beer is negligible next to the rest of it. Could be worse. It was £100 a game for me in the prem.

You can eat on the way to and from the ground you know

I am aware of this, the point being that buying food at the ground, or on the way to or from the game still costs money. And I am not in the position where I can just eat before and after, because there is a 8 and a bit hour gap for me.

You'll just have to bring sandwiches and a nice flask of weak tea, Ian.

First "prestigious" friendly I've missed for years tbh. I'd had enough of watching us play Chelsea in the Premier League so to watch them in a psf was never going to happen. Also I knew that the home ends would be chock full of Chelsea scum and you can fcuk off if you think I'm going to inflict that on myself. Roll on Saturday when the real stuff begins.

sam158_uk why have we only sold 16,000?

Because not that many people are interested in watching us play Chelsea. Had it been a club like Liverpool then I think it would have been a different matter but Chelsea? no thanks.

They sneaked a 2-2 draw because we got bored and stopped trying in the last 10 minutes.

The way I saw it, the Rich Kids were starting to cry so Brendan told Pearce to knock one in for them.

No-one was that arsed as

a - it was a only a friendly and therefore utterly meaningless
b - despite them being a premiership team they're hardly as interesting as a Liverpool or ManU
c - most importantly, reading had done nothing remotely interesting in the transfer market so no plastics would want to watch a load of unknown kids and no hopers who let everyone down last season

And a pretty damn good match as friendlies go. It costs me a bloody sight more (£68 vs £30) to take the whole family to a regular Championship match to watch a much poorer side than most of the Chelsea 'A' team. Until we get back into the Prem or fluke a Cup run that's the only chance I'm going to get to watch us give a few England players a damn good run for their money.
