Vuvuzelas at the Madejski

by Wimb » 18 Jun 2010 11:56

Cardiff have announced a blanket ban on the things whilst the Premier League have said it'll be down to each club to make a call. I don't recall the FL or RFC making a statement on this but as fans would you be happy for either home or away fans to bring them if they wanted?

ISTR that when someone asked the club about a year ago if they could bring them in the club said "no." (I think the person had been out to The Confederations Cup or something else in SA).

Remains to be seen if the same rule will still apply but I for one hope so.

Don't mind if vuvuzelas are banned or not but wouldn't like to see them made a scapegoat.

If you're gonna ban them then can we also ban trumpets, drums, and piped music through the tannoy after goals please.

The problem comes when they're banned and a 3-year-old brings in one of those little plastic trumpets.

Is that banned too? Where do you draw the line? And is that sort of decision handed over to individual stewards to make, because if so you can be sure some will apply common sense and some will be "sorry sir, it's more than my job's worth ....."

Whatever, it's a recipe for inconsistency and conflict.....

Hope they are banned and don't think implementing a ban would be very difficult.

Sadly Sainsbury's are selling them and I suspect they will spring up all over the place. Glastonbury and Reading to be turned over to a constant, tuneless drone (aka Morrissey) ?

Would you let a 3 year old in with a knife? Same principle

FWIW I'd not mind them, at times it'd be better than the silence that bounces round the Mad

They are flavour of the month for a few currently. In two month's times they have been forgotten about.

well yes, exactly. How long did rumblesticks last? Big fad for one game. Far fewer at the next. Barely any at the one after. Like all fads, very short-lived. In two months they'll be long forgotten.

no! but they'll never be many in use at any one time any how, so don't stress about it.

The fact is a lot of people here love to get stressed and wail about how embarrassing our supporters are, and they are keen to register their indignation now, rather than wait and see if it will actually be a problem or not.
