Why wasn't there a penalty in the first half then for Maguire?

Well, we played very well there. Especially liked the movement between the lines right through the front six. Iran were poor, but for me evidently a step up from Qatar. As said, the result in the later game between USA and Wales might already decide second place in this group.

The inconsistency of VAR is infuriating.

And there can't be many games played that have seen 24 minutes of added time.

Guessing because Maguire grabbed the Iran player as well right at the start. I still think it was a penalty personally but that is likely their thinking.

I was happy with no pen for us if that's the standard but if theirs is a pen so is ours

Thought we played very well, although expected Iran to be more resilient than what they showed there, although I do think a lot of that came down to how we played and how we moved between the lines, I think most teams will struggle to cope if we play with that level of intensity and quality through the thirds and we are that ruthless in the area as well.

Big game for Wales, beat USA and then you'd be thinking they are a good bet to go through with Iran coming next for them.

Those two defeats to Hungary just look really odd now.

The jury is still out but playing the WC in the middle of the domestic season actually seems to be helping us. We looked a lot more lively in that game than we have done at any tournament I can remember.

My mate, normally passionate Iran fan, is in Iran atm. Sent me vids of crowds cheering when England scored. Noone (except the minority of neanderthal terrorist oxf*rd apparently) there supports the national team, whom they regard as sellouts wearing for "Islamic Regime" on their shirts. They were hoping for them to do a sit down protest or something as kids are being killed on the streets. Huge problems in the team with a couple of the players being pro-regime when they're in the middle of a revolution with the regime they'replaying for murdering their own. They'll also be supporting Wales and USA.

Good result all round it sounds like.

Come on England!

Have had a bet on the bookings in that game.

In our game did you notice that whenever Shaw, Maguire or Trippier gave the ball away there was no mention?

Whether by accident or design we won because our attacking players are our strength so hopefully Southgate won't play 2 defensive midfielders even when we get to play the better sides.

For most games sporting index does quote for added time.
It is a bet that I do quite often and tried to place today but they weren't quoting.

It would have been my best ever return on that market ( I have had some bad losses as well as wins in the past including the Reading v Chelsea Mourinho/Cech/Hunt game).
They must have known something.
