Is there any reason why Schweinsteiger, Podolski and Klose are on the bench?

Probably because they can win at a canter without them

Assuming they think Klose isn't up to 90 against the better teams. Podolski isn't really that good IMO, Muller certainly seems to be playing striker better than I think he would. Schweinsteiger I'm very confused about. But Germany has a lot of talent and they're not afraid to use young players.

For all I support Germany, I don't pay enough attention to football outside Reading to provide any real insight.

if the germans on the bench played in the world cup they could probably contend very well too.

Klose for late sub in tighter games, I guess. It just surprised me but I share you final caveat.

I'd like to see Chiles get a smack in the face from Pepe and see how he reacts.

If Germany have 100% record and top the group going into the final match, I wouldn't be surprised if Klose starts. But I'm sentimental in wanting to see him score more world cup goals to set a cracking little record.

+1 on Chiles. Yes, Muller exaggerated it a bit. But he took a smack in the face of unknown strength. He didn't roll around. He went down emphasizing it to make sure the ref saw. Then he sat up massaged his face and was clearly about to get up without a great deal more fuss.

It's hardly fricking Rivaldo is it.

id love to see klose set the record. he is such a great striker and a good person by all accounts. there are times when he has scored and spoken to the ref to take it back for a handball, etc. he is all about fair play and i applaud him for that. i think all of the german team would love to see him break it too. although muller could end up challenging for it since he already has 7 goals and has at least 2 more world cups in him.
