Yes vote

His late goal in the undeserved win in the Argentina/Iran game and the gushing cum fest following it, by the commentators & pundits...summed it all up for me.

Yes

The team has to be set up perfectly for him, evidenced by him publicly criticising his own manager during a world cup for not setting up the team exactly how 'Messi'ah' wants it.

Over rated and had a crap season in a team that has lost it and aged too much. Not the best player in the World and never performed at the world cup. Just because he scored against Iran the commentators creamed all over him. I cannot stand all this Messi love. On this season he wouldn't make my top 3 best players. Same with bale. He does 1 thing and everybody creams over it.

So yes.

In addition, i also think Neymar is ridiculously over rated as well. Haven't seen 1 thing from him in any game i have watched him play in ever that warrants his hype.

33 goals in 51 games for Brazil, at the age of 22.

I think that every poster so far on this thread is educationally subnormal.

I find the hype a little over the top, but he's a very good player and I'm looking forward to seeing more skill from him as the better teams start meeting each other more.

I had two points to make. I even put them in separate paragraphs to help you.

So far, while not setting the world alight, he has scored the goals that have got his team the points. Maybe he's just trying to prove he's better than Ronaldo

Anyone who actually has their eyes open and looks past stats can see that Messi isn't quite the same player since his injury lay off.

It's a recurring muscle injury and is a big concern to Barcelona and it has had an impact on him. Although he doesn't want to miss playing time there has been talk of them managing how many minutes he plays rather than him playing every minute of every game in all competitions.

Same thing with Real Madrid who according to Marca wouldn't be wholly disappointed if Portugal lose to the yanks so Ronaldo can rest his knee.

Well said.
The electrifying change of pace hasn't been there for some time.
The best player in my lifetime IMHO and every team would want him playing for them but never mind, let the people on here carry on believing that Rooney is a world star earning an unbelievable amount of money for a run-of-the-mill player in world terms when in fact he is not fit to tie the little man's bootlaces.
Players as good as him only come around every 20 years or so (Pele, Maradona and/or Cruyff)-enjoy him for those magic moments as you might have to wait a long time to see anybody as good and put up with the TV people getting carried away (which I don't think they have) with everything he does.
BTW he tends to be surrounded by 2 or 3 players every time he gets the ball so don't expect him to perform miracles in every minute of every game.

+1

certainly looks like he has just lost 5% compared to pre injury Messi. Still, 'had a crap season'? Haters gonna hate and all that I suppose
