That one's out of left-field.

Bizarre - perhaps related to the Milner transfer?

Yup. Apparently MON had a meating with Lerner about how much of the Milner money he'll get to spend. Guess it didn't go very well! No idea who could take over.

There's no decent jobs available to him now though....unless he fancies the England job.

He could hold out for Fergie to resign and take that job.

Martin O'Neill "I have enjoyed my time at Aston Villa immensely. It's obviously a wrench to be leaving such a magnificent club. I would like to pay tribute to the Villa players, my coaching staff and the Villa supporters for all the support and encouragement they have given both the club and me personally during my time as manager. I wish them all the best for the future. I will obviously be assisting the club in the immediate short-term with regard to the handover of my duties."

That's a bit of a shocker.

Capello will be starting to look over his shoulder, but as TBM says, it would've made more sense to go earlier in the season to join Liverpool.

Well, on the bright side if Reading's season continues like it started on Saturday then perhaps he could step up to the challenge here....

VillaTalk has crashed, their main message board. According to my mate in Brum, its nothing to do with Milner, it's the fact that Ashley Yound is going to Spurs without O'Neill's consent.

First thing I thought as well. Kevin McDonald is taking over for the time being. Whoever he is!

If O'Neil was walking due to a fall-out with Lerner or whatever, why would he offer his services in the short term? If, however, his poor wife is ill again, this might be the reason why. Though I sincerely hope not.

I thought I heard on the news this morning that the FA were going to make some sort of statement about Capello this week. This might tie in very well with them getting rid of him and O'Neil coming in - so maybe it's to do with that? All conjecture of course. I'm sure we'll find out the real reasons soon enough.

Sounds like the only services he's offered is in helping the handover and potentially advising on his successor.

He seems a reasonable kind of chap and don't think that's anything out of the ordinary for someone in his position to do.

I'm not expecting this to be about anything more than O'Neil walking because they couldn't/wouldn't give him the funds he wanted to keep improving the squad. He was close to walking out before remember.
