Gareth Bale will probably win as he has created a lot of media hype, although Van Der Sarr could get it as he is retiring this year so don't rule out the sentimental vote. Outsider chance of Charlie Adams.

Spacey Who?

Bale's best performances have been in the CL, so I wonder if that will give him a better or worse chance. Either way, don't think he's been consistent enough across the season to merit the award, but should be a shoo-in for young player.

I think Vidic and Nasri have been the standout players for the top two teams, and would therefore be worthy winners.

Nasri would win PFA Footballer of the first few months of the season

Bale will win it but I'd say Van der Sar

It sums up this seasons Premier League that no player or team have put in a consistently high level of performance to stand out as an obvious winner.

It wouldn't surprise me if Scholes ended up quite high up the list. He was being raved about for a few weeks earlier in the season, and we've seen the likes of Nasi, Berbatov, Van der Vart, Bale and Wilshire all enjoy being flavour of the month for a while, but none of them have really stamped themselves on the season.

It always amazes me that they vote so early in the season too.

As i said last night, Scott Parker. He gives 110% every game for West Ham, but cos they're shit he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.......if they stay up this season, then its more or less down to him.

This.

I've never understood why they don't vote after the season closes (after the FA cup final), and then announced the winner(s) as a new season launching awards thingy.

Shame Luiz hasn't played all season. Would be a shoe in for the main prize and young player.

Why would Van Der Sar get it? Because he's retiring?

I guess to ensure all of the winners will still be at the clubs that they were playing for when they won the award .

Having said that, I see no reason why the voting can't be done via a "secure PFA website" in the week before the FA Cup final and then schedule the awards ceremony for the day after Cup final.

He would probably think about saying something then realise that it would involve effort and so give up.

I agree he's had a good season and he's probably the only positive from West Hams season but I don't think he's done quite enough to be classed as the best player this season. I wouldn't say he's miles off but being the best of a very poor bunch isn't much to write home about.

On the timing, I think it's mad being so early but can understand it not being right at the last minute. From what I can remember the voting is quite a manual process and is done via the clubs PFA rep who collates the votes and sends them off (I'm sure they end up casting many of them themselves too). It shouldn't be too hard with modern technology to make it easier, quicker and more timely though.
