I still don't get your point on him having 4 clubs - I could understand your point IF he was being allowed to leave for teams worse than the one he is at but the fact is he's gone to a better and stronger side each time. The manager probably doesn't want to lose him but as you know every player has a price and football now is a business.

I'm sure McD didn't want to lose Glyfi or Long etc but it doesn't mean he didn't rate them cos they left the club

Victor Meldrew Incidentally not many players turn out for 4 different clubs before they reach age 24.
It strikes me that managers think he looks o.k. from afar but when he actually joins a club they realise he isn't that good.

Leeds to Newcastle to Villa to Man City

All a progress in his [10 year] career.

Represented England at every level from U16

Yeah really crap :|

Leeds to Newcastle as a result of Leeds imploding, not really his fault.

Villa took him as he had links there (loan period mid 2000s), then the richest.club.In.the.country. Bought him.

Excuse the punctuation, but I was trying to spell it out for Victor Meldrew.

Victor Meldrew Hardly.
And being called a "plank" by Ian the armchair football fan.
What's wrong with these people?
Whatever happened to manners and good grace?

I find you obtuse and patronising.

You fit the bill as rude too.

Well, thanks for taking the time to post that amazingly insightful look at the performance of England v Ukraine.
Can't wait for your next posting,in fact I won't bother to wait.

"crap" is your distasteful word not mine-my view of the player is that he is hard-working but slow and without much flair.
BTW for the sake of the maths a player's career doesn't start at 14 (they are still at school then)so we are talking of 4 clubs in 8 years.
Compare:-
Lampard 2 clubs in 15 years
Gerrard 1 club in 14 years
Lescott 3 clubs in 14 years
Jagielka 2 clubs in 10 years
Baines 2 clubs in 10 years
Hart 2 clubs in 7 years
Can you see a pattern emerging?

Yep - I bet Gerrard wished it didn't say 1 club in 14 years. He might have won the Premier League by now.

Thanks for that TBM.
Did you read the comments after the article?
It seems as though not everybody (by a long chalk) agrees with you.
I particularly liked the "Milner is only in the England team to make others look good".
I'm out now and don't want to discuss this any more.
You have your view and I have mine but obviously mine is the right one.

Thats fine - just wanted to show the people "in" football seem to rate him yet others "out" of football don't

Not knocking you here but i guess the majority of people who don't rate him are the kind of people who go to a football match and start booing if the ball is being knocked around the back 4 instead of being pumped forward at every opportunity trying to score a goal.

You couldn't be more wrong about what I like to see at football.

I thought City played something like 50 games last season so half is not that great.

I was demonstrating them by not calling you a retarded fukwit. Which is what I was actually thinking.

Oh and Craig Levein has haunted-man eyes. He wants out.

His rather pathetic tete-a-tete with Fletcher isn't to the team's benefit.

Next round of qualifiers coming up next week, with a home game against San Marino and then quite an important trip to Poland on the Tuesday. It seems a few players a coming back to fitness so I'd imagine a few changes to the squad, or will Hodgson stick with those who did alright last time out?

Seems the media will be making a fuss over Rio's (non) inclusion in the squad and what will happen post John Terry.

I expect to see:

Hart, Ruddy, Butland

Johnson, Walker, Cole, Baines, Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Caulker

Gerrard, Carrick, Cleverley, Lampard, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott

Rooney, Carroll, Defoe, Sturridge, Welbeck

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Lampard miss out as that midfield looks a bit light on the wings, but with Downing out of favour and Young still injured (I think) we're probably end up with Milner out wide again (especially away to Poland). I think it's too early for the likes of Bent, Wilshire, Huddlestone and Adam Johnson to be pushing for inclusion, but perhaps Rodwell might come back in and perhaps Sterling might retain his place (I'd guess he'll drop down to the U21s or something).

Peter Crouch ahead of Sturridge for me. Just seems to have fallen out of fashion with the F.A., still a useful squad member imo.

Not sure he's fallen out as such. Hodgson has said he'll only recall him when he's earnt inclusion into the first 23 (ie he didn't get called up after subsequent injuries last time round) because he refused to go on standby for the Euro's in the summer.

I'm not sure Hodgson rates him highly enough to select him, and, at 31, he's probably not a long term solution as he builds for 2014.

And Sturridge looks a decent enough forward but he just never seems to pass it.

Got an email from the FA trying to convince me to come to the San Marino game by stating it's 'One game you can't afford to miss.'

Instant delete.

I see Lennon is bigging up Gary Hooper again

Is he really that good and worth a call up? - he's only 24 or is it a ploy for Celtic to be able to bump his price up in January if clubs start taking interest in him?
