Courtois

Why can't Chelsea enforce the £5m clause. If Atletico can't pay it (bullshit) then they shouldn't be allowed to pick him! having your own player playing against you is ludicrous.

Don't loan him out to another team you're in the same competition with then.

Thing is - players can't play against their parent club in domestic league games as it's a conflict of interest. So either it's the same in European competition or that rule is totally scrapped.

Thing is Chelsea still know the rule whether they like it or not and if they don't then it's their own fault.

Similar thing happened in 2004 where Real Madrid loaned Fernando Morientes to Monaco and he basically knocked them out of the CL so there is a precedent for it.

Agreed. However, i still think UEFA need to address this situation. Granted it doesn't happen often.

They have. They have said the clause means nothing. What is left to address?

UEFA's rules state that these types of clauses are not enforceable. Hopefully clubs won't be stupid enough to write them into future contracts.

In terms of not allowing players to play against their parent club, you know what I meant.

?

Premier League - Zaha, Lukaku, Barry, Moses, Borini, Livermore
Champions League - Joel Campbell,

Rules are Rules. Surely?

I find it so strange. The only thing I can think is that Atletico and Chelsea have done a deal behind UEFA's back...

Just realised why Chelsea let Courtois play. They have no intention of attacking let alone taking a shot...

Far play though Mourinho, he knows what he's doing.

First team to keep a clean sheet there in the CL this season. 3 teams in total haven't conceded there all season, Barca, Chelsea and Real.

Since when has 0-0 away from home been a particularly good first leg result in Europe? I hope Chelsea go out on away goals.

Can see Chelsea fielding a mickey mouse team at Liverpool, firstly, because they want to save their players for the 2nd leg and, secondly, it would be typical of Mourinho's bitter, small mindedness, now that Chelsea almost certainly can't win it, to make what was a deciding game a total anti climax.

Chelsea are a little screwed really. With Cech and Terry injured, Salah and Matic ineligible and Lampard and Mikel suspended, who exactly do they have left for the second leg.

Wasn't the best game in the world to watch but a decent enough away performance from chelsea. Can imagine what Tyldesley and Townsend would have called it if it wasn't an English team using their European 'experience'.

I'm embarrassed for most of you. All other English teams out of Europe and.we're being criticised for getting a 0-0 at a notoriously difficult place to go. I'd rather play like we did than do a City and make it virtually impossible to go through in the 2nd leg in the last round.
