Do they really need him?

Goalkeepers are something Madrid are pretty good with atm

Adam Lallana 5 years left on contract

Toni Kroos 1 with an gentleman's agreement to join Real for free next year.

Let that sink in.

Ulloa to Leicester for £7m. Getting pretty bored of this silly money for championship players malarkey.

I think the point is for the money Liverpool could have got someone 20x better than Lallana

It's a pretty bad point though as they probably couldn't - they've clearly paid an English Premium but I'm not sure who in the £25m bracket from abroad they could currently have gotten, that would be better than Lallana and who plays in that position (happy to be given examples).

A player of Kroos' level would not normally be available for £20m except in certain circumstances and would never choose a club in Liverpool's current situation (i.e. only just got back into the CL with no guarantee of being there next year).

There are plenty of players out there in Lallana's position who are much better and would be cheaper in the transfer market. Plenty on show on the World Cup for example.

But he wasn't, was he? As mentioned above, he only went to Madrid for that price because he'd agreed to go there next summer for free. So Munich sold him on the cheap. No way would he have gone anywhere in this country for that kind of cash.
