Citeh did well to stay relatively in the tie - at HT, it looked like it was going to be a case of how many Barca would score, with City barely at the races

I'm pretty sure the last 16 of the CL started last week...

ArsenaLOL

Got tore a new one tonight, thought Monaco were really disciplined and superb on the counter. Arsenal weren't their usual self though, over-confident?

Arsenal couldn't pass wind tonight. Monaco were quick and disciplined. Berbatovs touch was superb though still a lazy b%stard. They were a joy to watch. The premier league looks miles behind Europe if you look at the last 2 nights results.

I really wouldn't start drawing conclusions about the relative strength of the leagues from that Monaco performance, because by all accounts that was a massive aberration.

And Chelsea will obviously progress past PSG.

Monaco are fourth in the French league. What surprised the French media is that they scored three last night. In their league they have scored 26 goals in 25 matches, which is Aston Villa level.

Are we going to see no British teams in the quarter final this year?

Hopefully. Unless City or Arsenal can turn things around.

'greed

I honestly don't think an English team will win it this year, unless Chelsea, Arsenal or City do it....

Interesting how such a talented player like Berbatov suffered such criticism here for being idle and uninterested yet he has superb skills.

Is it just the media or British football in general that has a misguided perception that unless you run yourself into the ground all game you must be a lazy ineffective player - utter bullshit. Meanwhile donkeys like Giroud and Dzecko are completely predictable but don't get hammered so much by all and sundry.

I wouldn't say Giroud and Dzecko were donkeys  - they are very good finishers

As I often end up saying to my two daughters after they've been fighting, "If you don't want to be bitten, don't stick your hand in their mouth"

Very much this. The same reason your tough tackling 'brave' player gets so much love from their clubs fans when others in the team are actually much more effective at their jobs.

see John Terry & Phil Parkinson as examples

PSG looked fresher than us in the away leg. Definitely down to the winter break I think. Whilst PSG players were resting up on beach somewhere, Chelsea were playing 5 games in 10 days.
