floyd__streete Or.....

3rd hosts 6th in a one off game.
4th hosts 5th in a one of game.

3rd or 4th or 5th at home in the one off final vs 4th or 5th or 6th.

Oh no how silly of me, the clubs and the football league prefer the £££££-making opportunity of two-legged ties and not least a one off game at Wembley.....and all the commercial opportunity which comes with that, which of course is denied the actual best two teams in the division who have gone up automatically :|

I don't like the play offs, but if we must have them there must be better ways of settling it.

3rd v 4th and 5th v 6th. One off games.

Winner of 3rd v 4th does through to final. loser of 3rd v 4th plays winner of 5th v 6th for other place in final.

Or, 3rd place team get to choose oppo in a one off game at their ground. They do something like that in Rugby League, spices things up nicely and gives some adv to highest place team.

It turns out this guy was jailed in 2011 for beating a 70 year old wheelchair bound granny over the head with a brick in her own home. He also threatened to kill her, all for £40, and previously attacked a 93 year old man with a metal bar.

Lovely chap.

Sutekh TBH, and it pains to say, but Brighton were the only decent team in the play off positions, the other 3 have all looked awful by comparison to other team's promotion campaigns in the Championship in recent years. Without major surgery whoever wins out of Sheff Wed and Hull will come straight back down again. But then I suppose a number of clubs are just happy to get the money these days. ...

Just goes to show how totally and utterly inept Reading were this season.

Agreed.

In terms of quality and best teams making it to the final, it's not a vintage final for that.

I thought Wednesday were excellent as an attacking force in the first leg. 2nd leg was a bit more defensive but that was as much down to Brighton's 1st half onslaught which they withstood pretty well.

Well, he must be out on license, so I expect he'll find himself back inside pretty soon, then.

Pretty sure all the promoted teams were written off as toss last season and expected to come straight back down by some.

lolBrighton, a Boro fan comes in, probably on a bit of wind up but largely in response to their dog shit attitudes, he gets banned for his one and only post.

So, Hawkesbury Ronaldo and Akinfenwa will both be appearing at Wembley. Who will - literally - make the biggest impression?

Barnsley cruising through to the final now.

Interesting that all 3 teams that narrowly missed out on automatic promotion have crumbled in the play off semi's this year to teams over 10 points below them.

Barnsley an exception to that because they have literally been flying since November when they were one of the favourites to go down.

They're not taking this very well over there. Maybe next year they should try winning the thing, then they'll get one of those nice tin pots we got in 2006 and 2012.

Bradford now 4-1 down on aggregate, looks like Parky's promotion dream is over for another year.
