Sanguine Oh and Matip is definitely made of jelly beans. Ankle ligaments this time. FSG surely have to sanction some sort of centre-back signing, even if only a loan - Fabinho apparently likely to miss the West Ham game, where Liverpool will have no choice but to field Phillips and Henderson at the back.

Phillips and Henderson did well last night but reckon they’d struggle against Antonio who’s able to cause havoc amongst the best defenders

Reckon they’d even take Caulker back at this rate!

Antonio subbed well before the end and barely had a kick.

If Mo had scored his second goal on a training pitch unmarked it would have merited a small wow.
To do what he did on a windy night, in a match situation, having just sprinted 100 yards it was something else.

City next week could almost be a championship decider between the only two teams who are going to contest the title this season.

That Salah goal was somewhat orgasmic

Whoever put the first time cross in to him deserves a lot of credit

Yes, Phillips with another excellent game along with much of the team

Exactly where you need your fringe players to step up, haven’t been a big fan of Jones but he made a good impact off the bench. I felt Origi was taking underserved stick at the break and he did OK and Shaqiri was busy throughout - excellent pass for Salah’s second

Ultimately, Liverpool have to win next week so hopefully it’ll be a good attacking game as opposed to the many conservative big game draws we’ve seen so far this season. Will repeat - seeing a lot of “City have already won the title” comments - but won’t wash over me, a hard few months now after Tuesday (played a lot of the “weaker teams recently - and only narrowly won in some of them)

Really does emphasise the importance of momentum in football as they seem to be back to their clinical ways again, as opposed to their mini winless run where they couldn’t score to save their life. I suppose if they do go on to enjoy a strong second half to the season, they have Dier to thank for letting them break their duck

On a side note, was disappointed with West Ham - a lot of hot potato stuff from them, trying to rush the killer pass - not getting enough bodies forward. They’ve earned well deserved plaudits for most of this season but I found them to be quite poor, even if against a decent side

Shaqiri.

I'd agree with Gary Neville though - as excellent as that pass was, Salah's control and finish was off the charts, was Bergkamp-esque.

As a BTW I watched the start of last night's Match of the day and it reminded me why I don't watch it.
There was so little action from the West Ham game and in the editing you would get the impression that it was quite an even game because they showed the only half-chances that West Ham had.

For anybody watching it and thinking that was the case and Liverpool just scored 3 goals, that was definitely not the case.
Liverpool dominated the game from start to finish.

Match of the Day ought to be called Goals of the day as very little of other play is shown and there is just too much chatter from so-called experts who are generally so predictable with their comments and that includes the likes of Shearer, Wright and Jenas.

It did look like the sort of thing they'd do on a training ground for fun with zero pressure...great control

:D :D

Not rubbing it in ( I have other really good friends who are Evertonians and I have no problem with them doing well) but Everton were dire at the weekend and that earlier promise unfortunately is just fading away again.
Oh and they need a new keeper.

Liverpool obviously need to strengthen at the back, but with Ben Davies and (it seems) Ozan Kabak joining the club, if you're Nat Phillips you're probably a little frustrated right now.

Michael Edwards signed Davies and Kabak yesterday for €1.5m up front. It's an option to buy Kabak, not an obligation, and the price is €18m, not the €30m that Schalke were asking for when Liverpool enquired about him in the summer. And rumours that Liverpool were in for Mustafi started about a week about - which subsequently made it clear Mustafi's availability, and allowed Schalke to find a replacement. Edwards probably gave them Mustafi's number. He's very good is this chap.

Chelsea bought Gary Cahill from Bolton when they were rock bottom of the premier league and he was pretty decent for them, just because the entire team is a basket case, doesn’t mean there isn’t one good player.

Not quite the same extent but they bought Robertson from relegated Hull and that hasn’t turned out so bad

And often you find those sort of signings may turn out more successful. When you buy from perceived “big clubs” - you often buy for the name, whereas from teams out of the blue, you’ve normally worked hard to assess the player in question, and make sure they fit what’s required

Like buying a relegated Robertson, Wijnaldum and Shaqiri, I guess.
