Well spotted WB. Also: FC St Pauli promoted to the Bundesliga whilst HSV will again fail to return to the top flight.

This makes FC St Pauli officially the biggest club in Hamburg IMO.

Winston Biscuit Back up to Segunda for Deportivo La Coruna as they win one of the 2 regional 3rd divisions

was reminded yesterday that Lucas Perez (the one that was briefly at Arsenal & West Ham) wanted to finish his playing career back at Deportivo so badly, as they are his boyhood club, that he paid the €500k release clause himself to get out of Cadiz so he could drop down 2 divisions to try and help them get back up

He scored the only goal of the game yesterday which secured their promotion back up to Segunda

attendance just under 32k which was a 3rd tier record too

Udinese win last night means they move out of the Serie A relegation zone, jumping above 3 teams, and it puts Empoli, with former HNA favourite lunatic manager Davide Nicola, back into the bottom 3 with 2 games left to play

Udinese Vs Empoli coming up at the weekend

Interesting* last day ahead in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Naturally the key story will be can Leverkusen clear the last hurdle for an undefeated league season but plenty on intrigue elsewhere.

4 clubs in the mix for relegation and/or the relegation play-off.

Cologne need to win at Heidenheim to stand any chance of staying up - a win will see them climb out of the bottom 2 and in to the play-off, if Union also lose. There needs to be a 4 goal swing too or a 3 goal swing with Cologne scoring 5 more than Union - so a 5-3 win with a 1-0 Union defeat would do it for example.

Union avoid direct relegation with any sort of result at home to Freiburg. If the win, they will be safe if either Mainz or Bochum lose.

Mainz need a point to be safe and complete a Great Escape of sorts, at worst they will finish in the play-off.

Bochum can also only finish in the play-off but that will only happen with a defeat coupled with a win for Union and at least a draw for Mainz.

The last thing open is 6th place. Normally not that interesting but with Dortmund in the CL Final, a win for them will see 6th make the new Champions League. Eintracht had it wrapped up weeks ago but have frankly stunk the place out for the last few weeks but still after their point at Moenchengladbach, the only way they could lose it would be losing at home to Leipzig whilst Hoffenheim win both games and turn around a 9 goal GD deficit.

Hoffenheim won 6-0 at Darmstadt on Sunday so need to win by 2 goals and hope Eintracht lose - they do play Bayern but no idea which version of them will turn up.

Was listening to something yesterday and they talked about Xavi Simons move to PSV and back last year and how its done to benefit clubs rather than the player, and is a way of doing a loan without the apparent hassle of a loan between clubs.

Simons, really highly rated youngster at PSG. Moves from PSG to PSV for peanuts, then its revealed PSG have a buy back clause of €6M. After a season in the Eredividie he does brilliantly and apparently PSV had people offering up to €60M for him, but PSG offer the contracted €6M and Simons says he wants to go back. the suggestion is it was always agreed it would happen, they just didn't want to loan him and it made more sense to do it this way.

PSG then immediately loaned him out to Leipzig where he has done well this season

There is skulduggery in there somewhere

Have held off on celebrations until we win the league this afternoon. Might get some Wrexham lagers in, as they are a product of Welsh-German cooperation.

Don’t particularly have a beef with Wrexham and what’s happened there. Sure fans can use it as banter to wind them up if they want, but anyone who has genuine hate and anger at what’s happened there is a bit weird imo. There are a lot worse things going on in the world of UK football ownership.
