Royal Rother I see that Aluko woman has been at it again.

She really should learn to quit when she’s behind.

She sure has some big chip

Really should give it up. esp. as Ian is the one consistently half decent pundit that there is. Plus it’s a great reminder, every time he comes on, of Reading’s great 3-1 win at Palace back in 1986 when the boys turned over Sir Steve’s Wrighty & Brighty led team.

Ooh I went to that. I was living in London so missed the fun of the RFC supporters train being bricked.

Wrttop I have to grudgingly admit that Wayne Rooney is decent on MOTD.

Agreed. I know she turns to a) being a minority and b) being a woman

How much of that holds weight I can’t know but we do see a fair amount of females in football punditry now as well as minorities.

But (of course it’s all a personal opinion) I think she talks nonsense, doesn’t have a very likeable voice and just isn’t a very good pundit.

Not everyone is good at all jobs and it’s important to be realistic in life, but maybe it suits her to blame the a) and b) as above and play the victim.

She was on talksport yesterday discussing the points she raised. I felt awkward just listening to it. it really just felt like she is upset at no longer being given the opportunities that she wants as a pundit, of which there are only a small handful in the whole country, and she has taken it very personally rather than seeing it as a very tough industry where others have been deemed more preferable than her, and that is after a number of years where she was deemed more preferable than others

she seemed to be linking far too much to her experience as a former footballer and the number of England caps she won, rather than accepting that punditry is a very different job and much of it is simply based on how likeable you are as a person. She has been a footballer, where roughly the harder you work you more you rise up through the game, and she probably feels like she went all the way to the very top through commitment, hard work, desire etc, but being on telly isn't the same, and she still seems to not understand that.

she also came across as very naive, claiming she knows she has been a good pundit because Gary Neville & Laura Woods have said nice things to her in the past.

I felt awkward just listening to it. it really just felt like she is upset at no longer being given the opportunities that she wants as a pundit, of which there are only maybe around 10 in the whole country, and she has taken it very personally rather than seeing it as a very tough industry where others have been deemed more preferable than her, and that is after a number of years where she was deemed more preferable than others

As suggested above she seems to be one of the professional victims we see more and more of, it’s NOT always unfair and life is difficult for everyone. Sometimes in life (and I imagine we’ve all been there) you’re just not good enough when compared to the skills of a MR A, MR B, MRS X or MISS Y and it’s absolutely naff all to do with a disability, gender or colour it’s just to do with a company wanting what they feel makes them and their products the best, so just deal with it and make yourself look big instead of like a spoiled brat.

I think that's a very good / accurate take on it.

I saw something a couple of days ago where Simon Jordan said she is clearly an intelligent woman but just not a very good or particularly likeable broadcaster, and maybe she should just accept that is the reason she's not getting the gigs.

From the bit that I heard on the radio Jordan said that directly to her.
Didn't she get some form of compensation after being dropped from the England team?

Not a likeable person and difficult to understand how she got the gig in the first place let alone not having her contract renewed.

Watched some of the West Ham v Man Utd game last night at half-time and after Reading's game finished.
Having listened to a reasonably well informed guy doing our game on his own and not over-talking, the comparison with the non -stop chatter of Fletcher and McCoist was noticeable.

They just go on and on as if it were a radio commentary rather than an audience that can see what is happening.
Mc Coist with his repetition and his "Really, really" everything is quite annoying

For some reason they just couldn't get it that West Ham were on the night as good as Man Utd and with a bit more composure could probably have cemented the result.
The not so dynamic duo seemed intent on reminding us that Man Utd have been quite good recently rather than mention , until right near the end, that they had hardly troubled the West Ham keeper.

West Ham just sat in a mid-block for the entire game. Possibly why they have picked up results recently, a difficult-to-play-against team who score on the counter. Utd were a bit poor the other night but got a point. We also had a goal narrowly ruled offside, and Wan-Bisaka had a goalline clearance, so there were chances
