Why did Tyledsely get so excited about Oxlad-Chamberlain's goal last night? It was OK but nothing special and as it was almost immediately trumped by Rooney's effort (and indeed the Brazilian equaliser) it just made Clive look as stupid as ever. forget TBM's epic chip on his shoulder about people not caring a bout England friendlies, no matter how seriously they are taken by the players and management they are always going to be unwatchable while ITV have the broadcast rights

No Fixed Abode We're always going to be an average international team until we produce a Mata, a Silva, a Xavi, a Iniesta, a Ronaldo, a Messi, a Bale.

So Wales aren't an average international team?

tbf i jumped and shouted "ooooh what a goal" when he scored it.....i think cos it came out of nowhere, hence why the excitement.

Rooney's goal looked good on first showing but the replayed showed it took a deflection - the keeper would have easier saved it had it not done so.

Platypuss Walcott was absolutely appalling.

he's not a footballer.... can run quickly

But that is what the English game is all about these days; pace, pace and pace (oh and a bit of stamina) never mind having players who can actually control and pass the ball and also read a game

Not sure what formation England were playing when we scored our two goals but it worked well, the players suddenly looked comfortable and wasn't 4-5-1 or 4-4-2?

^The key for the goals was having somebody in the middle who was willing to turn and have a run at the defenders rather than the pedestrian trio we had up until Ox came on. The gap between Rooney and the rest of the midfield was disgracefully big in the first 60 minutes. Tbf though, given the likes of Wilshere, Cleverley, Welbeck etc were out injured we didn't really have much of a choice other than to shut up shop for 60 minutes and hope to nick something against tired legs.

I think its safe to say Phil Jones should be a right back (for england) and not a central midfielder - he had a shocker

soggy biscuit

Thats the beauty of these superimposed ads that they now do - they can put whatever they like on them and the players/fans/media inside the stadium don't see them....

I'm not sure where he should play at Utd or England. I'm guessing CB but he's all over the shop positionally when he plays there. Not a midfielder
and there are prolly better options at fullback

Rooneys goal would have been saved if not for the deflection, he didn't strike it that well. (imo)

Ox's goal was unsaveable.

And a great shot preceded by a tight little move. (Probably an accident in reality!!)

'greed the Ox clearly scored the better goal. Great finish.

Not to knock Rooney though; they all count.

TBF I didn't realise Rooney's was deflected, because I kind of saw it go in and then continued with whatever more interesting activity I was involved in at the time, rather than listen to Townsend's analysis

Rooneys lay off looks like it was just a terrible touch* in the replay I just watched

* not knocking, that was the only period of the game Rooney had any support and he played some decent stuff

Anyone else notice that we went back to shit again when Rodwell came on?

Which coincided with us putting Ox on the right and going back to 3 static midfielders.

A midfield trio of Wilshere, Gerrard/Carrick, and Ox further forward with Milner/Welbeck and Lennon/Walcott (maybe even Zaha depending on how he goes next season) on the wings is how I'd like to see us be shaping up heading towards next summer.

England squad to be announced soon

With no fit strikers i reckon Gary Hooper should be given a chance - being its against Scotland
