Winston Biscuit Talksport just a stream of scousers saying TAA is a disgrace and is never welcome back at Anfield or the city again

Obviously some reactions pretty extreme - but I can understand the frustration with the way TAA has dealt with this. By all means express a desire to leave the club, privately - but don't run your contract down at your boyhood club.

That's a mindset i just can't understand. The club only wanted him to have a contract until summer 2025. If a better option became available for the club in his position, they wouldn't hesitate in bringing them in and sticking TAA on the bench, maybe even sell him. And the fans would be fine with that. But when it's the player that wants to go for a different option, and is abiding by the contract the club gave him, it's suddenly wrong.

I do think many fans just want to have hate figures in the game, and they need to work out a story as to which players/managers can fit it so that their hatred sounds acceptable/not mental. They've spotted an opportunity to be outraged, to kind of sound justifiable in their outrage, and in the modern world people absolutely love being able to show how outraged they are as it plays into the victimhood thing. Also makes them feel like they look like bigger Liverpool fans.

Well, look at Haaland. Do you think Haaland wants to play for City for the rest of his career? Or does his ten-year deal lock in value for City as and when he decides he wants to play for Barca or Real?

I don't think anyone is surprised that TAA wants to play for Madrid. But in the modern game players do move when they want to move. As I mentioned above, Mac Allister signed a new contract with a release clause at Brighton precisely so that the club would get a transfer fee for him.

Liverpool were reportedly offered £20M for him in January. At the time he had 4 1/2 months of football left this season for Liverpool, but the club decided there was more value in keeping him for those 4 1/2 months even though it looked strongly like he would leave for nothing afterwards.

Anger at 'one of your own' leaving at the end of a contract is honestly one of those things in football I think i will just never get my head around.

I sometimes wonder if my views on football are slightly skewed by the club i follow. We have no rival and we rarely have anything all that much to play for. It means we can come to fairly passive and rational viewpoints on things where others may be swayed by emotion.

I think it's just another example of "look how much of a supporter I am" syndrome. If I get angrier than you do when someone wants to leave the club, that shows I care about the club more than you do...

I think TAA was giving it the big I am a Liverpool lad and saying he wanted to do a “Gerrard” when he was younger so I’m not surprised some fans have turned a little. The mega big mess of the contracts that the management have made over this last couple of seasons is another feature that has pi55ed off some supporters. Finally Trent hasn’t exactly helped himself by letting it all play out and keeping quiet rather than being open and honest. Overall there’s many fans that are wishing him well and wanting to move on quickly. Personally think he’s not all that, great passer and useful at free kicks but a poor defender which is what his position actually is, so don’t think Liverpool will miss him that much.

I was thinking the other day that there could be a business facilitating communications/workflow/finance/etc. between clubs and agents.

Bit like Slack/LinkedIn.

Just need a catchy name

Will be interesting to see what interest there is in Liam Delap now his release clause reportedly drops to £30M due to relegation.

Is this clubs paying player’s agents? Surely the ******* players should be paying them.

In any other type of business in the world - yes (*). But football has it's own rules and practices...

(*) Not withstanding that some of these payments will be to agents employed to find buyers for players that clubs want rid of.
