Massive LMFAO at joelufc20 who thinks Leeds are one of the top 10 teams in the UK.

What a oxf*rd thicko.

They're not even one of the top 10 Championship clubs, let alone UK.

My exact thoughts.

Thing is, it isn't a one off situation, several times I've come across Leeds fans thinking they're one of the biggest clubs in England.

Bunch of bell ends.

In terms of crowd size and City status pecking order...they are up there in the peripherals

If only football matches were won by attendance or local population, eh. Poor Leeds.

Saw it a few more times on the FLS. Noticed he does definitely seem to have a look at the player before he goes in and is later than I thought from the first look I got. Plus his height and the other guys lean means he's going to go through the guys head.

I take it back and accept its a red. Not sure it's ever likely to do much damage but you're right it's dirty and calculated.

My apologies to Paula too.

I only saw the highlights, but In fairness to Brian the first two goals were almost solely down to errors from Lee, who was subbed at half time. He made the right move. He couldn't have known that Smith would get sent off and Zaliukas would suddenly forget how to play football.

If I supported Leeds I'd be highly pissed off by Kebe's debut, he looked like he couldn't be bothered.

Eh?

They're arguably the biggest club in the Championship by a reasonable distance. Not the most successful or best team, but in terms of size (totally subjective combination of history, fan base, success and reputation) there's nobody who really comes close apart from Forest in the current Championship.

In the Premier League there's probably only a dozen bigger clubs at best too.

Apparently he took a hefty challenge early on and then went hiding for the rest of the game. As you say, normal game for Kebe then.

By that criteria, I'd put Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield ahead of both of them and Burnley and Ipswich at least level with them. Leeds and Forest were 2nd tier provincial also rans until Revie and Clough got their respective hands on them.

Leeds just accumulated a whole lot more glory hunters in their golden era than a lot of other clubs which always makes them think they're massive. Both nationally and overseas they do have a substantial fan base with multiple branches of their supporters clubs, however, for a supposed big club Leeds do seem to spend as much time out of the top league as they do in it.

Wednesday I'd give you, they're up there but don't quite have the same identity or aura about them as Leeds do. Ask yourself who really hates Wednesday? Apart from United fans I can't imagine many do, but plenty hate Leeds because of, to put it into Premier League era-speak, the strength of their brand!

The others you mention have had some success, but they just aren't as big as Leeds despite perhaps a couple more silver pots. As for Huddersfield, well there's only so far back you can go in history to influence their current standing.

Isn't that what all big clubs do though? They cultivate a following by being successful and then in some it breeds more and more success.

People used to say City or Newcastle weren't a big clubs whilst they were languishing in the lower leagues but anyone with a bit of balance knew they were still big clubs.

Huddersfield are traditionally the biggest club in West Yorkshire and Burnley were certainly as big in their heyday as Leeds were in theirs.

Burnely's day was when football was a little more local. They're a small club who tasted success a couple of times and they remain a local club, in much the same way as Ipswich, Blackburn or Huddersfield.

Granted Leeds successful period was limited as well, but they have the 12th largest ground in the country and can fill it. Burnley and Huddersfield aren't big clubs. They don't have the brand and they don't have the fans (neither of them average anywhere near Leeds crowds) and that is a big part of being a big club.
