MmmMonsterMunch See ya later then Jimmy. Hope those who slate Guthrie will now judge Jimmy by the same standards!

I think you'll find that quite a few of us have for quite a while. As another poster said, it's been clear for a long time that many of his 'injuries' have been in his head. The 'does what he wants, plays when he wants' thing was amusing at first but soon wore thin.

holsgrove breaks a leg In all honesty i think we saw the best of Jimmy Kebe a few years back when Brian took the reigns and Jimmy had a storming finish to the season and continued that in the playoff campaign. Since then injuries have caught up with him which have taken longer to clear up every time and when he has returned he has lost that zip and game changing ability. His complete lack of confidence to take players on and get involved in play every time he comes back from a lay off suggests to me there could well be a psychological issue on the pitch dealing with lengthy injury lists. He is also fast approaching 30 where his pace will begin to go and after that goes i dont think he has enough in his game to warrant selection. Taking the recent issues aside, i think its time to say goodbye and try to get Mcleary/Robson Kanu playing in a settled formation. Im not a massive fan of Jobi but at least he has adapted to the formations and type of play suggested to him so perhaps keep him now for this season. If Obita is lagging behind in impact on the training ground it may be that we need to look at getting another winger in, but that all depends on what formation we actually settle with under Nigel.

Agreed.

I've never been a big Kebe fan (he's just too inconsistent and reliant on his pace for me) but McDermott got a great 6 months out of him, if not a bit longer, but apart from that his whole Reading careerhas been a bit of a let down.

I can't see him ever recapturing that run of form McDermott got out of him 2 or 3 years ago whenever it was.

Royal Lady I know I'm an old woman and naive, but if you were wanting to play a player who has been out for months and you don't have a proper reserve team for him to play in anymore and you had planned to play him in a cup game, why wouldn't you take him along to Blackpool and let him see how the current players are utilising their "skills" and the tactics that NA is trying to instill in them. How would you expect anyone to play to your style, if they're not even given the proper chance to see it in motion? Not making all excuses for Kebe - but surely someone has pointed out to NA how good Kebe can be on his day and that he needs good man-management and handling to get the best out of him?

clearly been frozen out by atkins, who blames him for his failure to win the title with saints

Kebe, in my view you are a coward and a disgrace. However bad the team were last night, you are ten times more culpable.

kwik-silva Aye, 'cause that's the way to treat a guy who's played 190 games for the club but has refused one trip to Peterborough as he's (possibly) irked about selection policy

He's been here since 2007/8 so this is his 7th season with us. He's played 188 times.

Yeah but sadly too many of them were the 'works of art' your kid brings home from Infants school and you pin up on the kitchen noticeboard until you're brave enough to take them down and place in the bin.

Jimmy Kebe: played about 6 good games in a row about 3 and a half years ago, seemingly he was inspired by getting gip from the crowd.

Before and since he has been either sh*t, lazy or injured. Sometimes all 3 at once. The most overrated Reading player ever. I will literally chip in for his petrol if he wants to talk to another club.

Has Kebe had his eyes shut since March then?

He's been training for a couple of weeks, presumably involed in the majority of team meetings, had his one to one discussions with the manager and attended the majority if not all of the home games under Adkins. He doesn't need a long trip up to Blackpool to know what's required of him, especially if it was unlikely he'd be involved (we had Drenthe, McLeary, Ronson-Kanu, McAnuff and Blackman in the squad already).

Man City away last season - Kebe was absolute class. He's a proper outlet for teams under pressure, able to carry the ball long distances very quickly.

Doesn't like heading the ball and his delivery has always been underwhelming but I think he's a properly good player on his day and one that would benefit any team in the Championship.

Totally agree, I just prefer players who are more consistent in their performances and are more technically capable. The improveement in his defensive work shouldn't be forgotten either.

On his day he has been outstanding and at times unplayable. It's just a shame those days haven't been more regular.

Sod paying his petrol for him! He can easily afford to pay for that himself. However, I will volunteer to help ease his extremely frail and injury prone body into the driver's seat and shut the door for him. Indeed, if his latest 'injury' is serious enough to prevent him driving, I will ease him into his passenger seat and drive his car for him.
