Arch From reading a lot of the comments here I'm beginning to come around to the wonderfully ironic realization that ESPN coverage may be better than anything you can get in the UK.

I thought Ian Darke --whom, as a general matter, I think ought to stick to left hooks, right crosses and STUNNING KNOCKOUT BLOWs-- was going to explode right there in the booth when Donovan scored the winner*

Derek Rae oozes footballing awesomeness --real shame ESPN lost the Champions League to Fox, and never mind that he was paired with village idiot Tommy Smyth; Adrian Healey is serviceable, and dear old Martin Tyler --whatever his faults-- is to my ears the voice of football

*Link is to the only vid I could find, and they'll be hauling it down soon enough

 @ "You could not WRITE a script like this..." --lolwut? We're yankeedoodles, dood --coming soon to a cineplex near you!

 @ the soccerballing halfwit John Harkes struggling cobble together a coherent thought worth bellowing

Couple of spotteds from the scene's following Lando's "buzzer beater"

Obviously Marcus piling on to the bundle but also Danny glover next to Big Bad Bill in the royal box

Not totally on topic, but...

Remember all of the grousing about Marcus' distribution (no-)skillz?

Right well, you saw Howard's masterful bit of lawn-bowling that led directly to yesterday's matchwinner --so now check this

Is Guy Mowbray the BBC's head commentator now? Thought it would of been Steve Wilson.

Shame they haven't got rid of Lawrenson yet though!

Alan Shearer last night (sort of like this):

"I've seen Japan a couple of times in the last two games I've seen them play"

Lawrenson is really plumbing the depths in this WIC as far as i'm concerned.

After one incident in the Slovenia game his contribution was thus: "Big nose". They're seriously paying this guy stacks of money for his insight and all he can muster is a five-year old's insult :|

Just as bad during Netherlands v Cameroon - highlight being "He looks like Neptune" when discussing Song. Yes Mark, care to tell us anything about his performance, strengths, weaknesses, anything at all? Nope, just that he looks like Neptune.

Fck off.

He's even recycling his old material now. That was the sum total of his input regarding Abel Xavier 10 years ago.

Was I imagining it, or did Lawro refer to Elia as summit like "the young black boy"?

tbf whoever was co-commentating with him the other night stooped to his level

Lawro "is it noisy here or is it just me"
Steve Wilson or whoever "yes you are very noisy"
