1. he was close enough to being 'onside' that it's not worth debating. it really isn;t a law that requires 8 decimal places. it's about the human eye.
2. I don;t think he was active, and neither the defender or keeper were prevented from doing anything by anything he did.
Totally agree on point 1, but not point 2.
He's right in front of the keeper and makes a motion to try and get a touch to divert the ball. That influences the keeper as he can't commit 100% to diving to his left to cover the initial shot in case he gets the touch and puts it the other way.
It probably happened too quickly to make that much difference, but any attacker in and around a defender effects the position you take up and any action you go through because you have to be aware of that forward. I hate the not interfering rule because of it as, like Cloughie once said, if you're not interfering you shouldn't be on the pitch.
