Unless Raphael massively influences the game I think ManYoo might get through this. Olympiakos look a bit anxious

Royalclapper Fellaini's less than warm welcome to Old Trafford baffles me. Whenever I watched Everton in his time there he was their best and most influential player by far, who often scored and bossed the midfield against the top sides not just the crap - seem to remember him scoring vital goals against Utd & City in his last season at Everton.

Everton ST holder I know would disagree with that, always used to moan that Fellaini went missing in the big games. Much prefers the football under Martinez too.

Really putting a shift in. Would be funny if they won the CL. Be hysterical just to see the reaction of the team that finished 4th.

Cracking performance from United tonight, although they were asking for trouble playing deep once they got the goals, especially with Jones and co knocking around at the back. Rooney MOTM by a distance

Not so sure about Chelsea but United almost certainly won't find a side quite as forgiving in the next round as Olympiakos, whose away record in Europe has never been the greatest, were.

I said exactly this earlier on. Would crack up if Liverpool or Chelsea finished 4th and this happened.

Seems a bit quiet on this thread given last night's events. I am beginning to love the Champion's league because a neutral English fan cannot lose. I am happy if our teams lose and happy if they win.

The football may be rubbish, the league system is less exciting than the conference, and I would die happier if I never had to watch another German club side play football, but Europe offers up so many opportunities for Schadenfreude. It was brilliant last week watching Arsenal and Man City losing so pitifully, and it would have been great to dance on Moyes's corpse this morning. However, Man Utd won, as did Chelsea last night, and I feel proud to have two English teams through to the last eight.

If the events above did happen, it would just be win, win, win.

I always feel a bit proud when I hear a bunch of English hoolies have given some foreign mob a good shoeing on their own turf, and likewise a bit ashamed when it’s the English getting duffed up – but couldn’t give two sh1ts about English teams losing the actual football

Whilst it's all well and good that United won, they looked poor after the third went in. Olympiacos had several chances and a better side would have scored at least one of them.

Headline in the local Olympiacos rag - "A lowlife from Holland robbed Olympiacos". Think it's aimed at the ref, not RVP.

Decent going forward, shakey at the back, but they got through thanks to excellent performances from De Gae, Rooney, Giggs and RvP, with special mention for Valencia too. They were perhaps fortunate to be playing another side that didn't seem to know how to defend but they did what they needed to do and I was pleased for Moyes that it gets him some breathing space from the .

There's still a decent side in that squad but I still think Moyes needs time to clear out those that aren't in his long term plans and aren't quite at 100% because they know it and are playing out time.

All very true if they lose and you can dance a little jig of delight, but if they win they are just the same English teams we have always had and the champagne can come out for me to share.
