Well it can only be a step up from the incompetents we get on VAR in this country. Already got one decision completely wrong and we haven’t even had the first full set of fixtures completed yet.

Like the sound of the change in the segunda division, perhaps they should introduce similar here in the FL divisions. Have to be generous with the limit on calls allowed given the standard of officials in the FL though.

Fair to say Alan Shearer is fed up with VAR.

And he's spot on, too.

Could they put a timer on VAR decisions? Like a minute or so. And if they can't make their minds up within that time limit then it wasn't clear and obvious enough.

Very light pen given in favour of Barcelona at the weekend. Couldn't check it on VAR though as it suddenly had a technical fault and could no longer be used in the match

That. If you need endless replays in slow mo from different angles, then it's not a clear mistake

Just waiting now for VAR refs to be in the actual match referee’s ear throughout a game telling them what decisions to make, while making out to the rest of us they’re still only there for major incident checks.

VAR audio released for the decision at Chelsea. Referee got it 100% spot on in real time. Weak to change his mind.

It was suggested on the radio just now that a hierarchy applies for VAR decisions-presumably what they are saying is that if a more senior VAR ref has a different view from a ref like Rob Jones who is relatively junior then the junior ref won't stand his ground (as in the Chelsea game).

I only heard a bit of the discussion with a VAR "expert" but that is what I gleaned -maybe wrong and will let you as a junior overrule me if so. .

Oh dear, seems VAR is bringing the game into disrepute again, really think it should be banned as a result.

According to Sky Mike Riley has made a personal call to Liverpool to apologise for the VAR team failing take action over a possible penalty award to Liverpool in the Man City game after Salah was brought down. The VAR team didn’t direct referee Simon Hooper that they thought he had made an error and that he should review the incident on the pitchside monitor at the next break in play.

Just wish VAR wasn’t a thing as the continual foul ups that we see season after season are totally unacceptable.

Personally I’d prefer a return to the plain understandable human error of the match officials rather than any on field errors they may make being compounded by even more human error from people who have countless camera angles and countless camera speeds and computers to analyse incidents.

How many times must clubs be on the receiving end of these things, it’s not the first time Liverpool have been done and Man City have suffered a fair share as well. Saying it evens out as it must happen in a club’s favour too isn’t really an acceptable answer.
