No Fixed Abode Paul Lake

Don't think players having career ending injuries should be included.

Neither should NFA really.

(Which reminds me, I had a dream I met John Terry last night. WTF?)

David Bentley

I'd say the previously suggested Thomas Brolin was just about the worst though.

Agreed, Rother can file Nii Lamptey under this as well.

Back in the day, scoring the winner in the FA Cup final was a sure-fire short-cut to football playing oblivion: "Ian" Porterfield, Alan Taylor, Bobby Stokes, Roger Osborn.

I'd like to nominate Alan Davis though - MOTM in the 1983 FA Cup replay, division 4 PFA team of the year five years later (alongside Mick Gooding), found dead in his car from self-inflicted CO2 poisoning in 1992.

Simon's Church Adriano
Quaresma

Adriano is a good shout. Just about the most sought after player in 2005, Chelsea were after him for £50m. Career completely thrown away. May of the names above have just suffered terrible injuries, like Paul Lake.

Hilarious story that one. He showed up to train every single day as well when he was in the Chelsea reserves and youth team..

I don't think it was injuries that did for his career. Bent agents, personal tragedies, and exaggerated expectations more like.

What happened to Giles Barnes, he was meant to be the next best thing at one point.
