cmonurz Not really sure what pedigree has to do with it tbh. The nucleus of their side is now at its peak (and has been since 2008) - not sure what the injury news is on Iniesta, but him, Xavi, Alonso, Torres, Villa, Valencia etc, all playing as well as they ever have, it's going to take something special to get past them imho.

Not sure if my knowledge is lacking slightly, but who on earth is Valencia?!
And performances in previous World Cups doesn't come into it in my opinion (in Spain's case anyway) as they have a massive, massive array of talent. To the list above you can add the best goalkeeper at the tournament, a decent defence and the best selection of midfielders in Europe (cmonurz hasn't mentioned the likes of David Silva, Fabregas, Mata, Pedro, Navas; each of whom would walk into England's team for example).
