He's going to resign in nine freaking months, presumably after attempting to hand pick his successor.

No, he is gone. I said earlier in the thread that this is FIFA's 'Salt Lake City' moment. There is cleary something that directly implicates Sepp coming out soon. I suspect the news from South Africa yesterday was a little too close to home for him. The whole sorry mess is going to unravel now. If I was on the Qatar 2022 team (the bid team, not the poor bastards being used as slaves), I'd be horrified by this. Russia 2018 will happen. I'm convinced Qatar will not happen now! Even if they keep the tournament, the big stumbling block to the big 5 leagues in Europe refusing to release players has gone now. The whole house of cards is crashing down and I am delighted by it!!

So where do we go from here and how does this change affect posters on HNA?
Presumably with building contracts in place and much work having been done already Russia and Qatar will get their world cups.
There will be another election for president of FIFA and the man from that footballing powerhouse of Jordan will get the job and then what?
There will be no breakaways ,no abstentions-that silly woman Rabbats can revert to doing whatever she does and the world keeps on revolving and we still await Reading's first new signing for the new season.

Oh well that was an exciting couple of weeks so who can fill our sports pages over the coming weeks apart from loutish Arsenal footballers, piss-head or head-butting rugby players or drug-fuelled athletes?
There is always a certain South African who has gone back to county cricket and scored a mighty 2 runs for Surrey.

As did many others. Nothing to do with who voted for Qatar, more to do with the corruption involved. Qatar is still far enough away for a re-vote. FIFA shot themselves in the foot when so many (including Platini) voted for a W.Cup there.

Every day construction is allowed to continue in Qatar more people die, that farce needs to be put to a stop as soon as possible and the vote re-run .

It's too late for the Russian world cup. Realistically only 2 countries could host it at short notice. Germany and England.

In my minds anyone who voted for Qatar is tainted, and so is anyone promoted by someone who voted Qatar.

we need fresh new faces with history in the game but tainted by non of the governmental politics. Ginola, Figo etc.

It's about stamping out corruption in FIFA.

That's a good thing, right Victor?

Victor seems to be firmly of the opinion that it's actually about Anglo-Saxon racism vs the rest of the world and nothing to do with cleaning up corruption.

While he uses South African as a pejorative

Still, the building contracts have been signed so if some immigrants die that's going to have to keep happening

That was a separate issue, i.e our failed bid could well have failed anyway especially with the poor selection of our delegates.

So what about the poor buggers that have lost their lives?
If the work stops their deaths will have been in vain.
Anyway with our new found ultra-clean and caring FIFA surely they will be able to afford to send some health and safety guys over there to make sure that these dreadful accidents come to an end.

See my reply to Zac and take the time to read what I actually wrote earlier which was a side issue to the corruption -maybe you wouldn't then jump in with your ill-thought and premeditated ideas-idiot.

Hang on, because some people who've been used as slaves died as a result of being used as slaves in terrible conditions, we should go ahead with a world cup set up under corrupt conditions and built with slave labour and blood so their deaths had meaning?!?

That is an utterly abhorrent view. You disgust me. And that's the exceptionally restrained and polite way of saying it. You should hang your head in shame.
