England's biggest problem is hardly any, if not none if the starting 11 play outside of the premier league. If you take a look at other international clubs they have a player in Germany, Italy , Spain and so on.
Our players only know one style of football

Ian Royal
Hoop Blah If we'd turned a few of those draws into wins on pens we'd have a much better record.

It is a little odd that in 8 or 9 attempts we've not beaten one of the 'big boys' during the knockout phases. I wonder what France or Germany's records are like? Obviously a little better!

Didn't we have late chances to win it in a couple of those games? Argentina rings a bell. Could have turned draws into wins without the need for pens.

We didn't take them though, and we didn't deserve to win or lose all those games (Italy in 2012 for example, we held on against a better and more mature side). Losing all those shoot outs is a wider issue (IMO) than the ebbs and flow of not taking a few chances.

Obviously there's a wider issue where we have failed to win a knockout game outright against the other big nations too.

Be interesting to see Roy's starting XI tonight as I think it will be the one that starts against Italy

England v Peru looks set to be the usual frilly pre-tournament send off.

Peru are under a new coach who's apparently bringing a youthful team to Wembley with very few recognisable players.

Certainly not like the Chile side who included the classy Alexis Sanchez who gave England a sharp lesson by exploiting our vulnerable defence.

Hope Barkley gets a good run out.

Lovely solo goal from Sturridge, but this team aren't going to turn many heads in Rio.

Has he stopped pretending to be Irish now? Im waiting for him to say "We" rather than "They" or "England" when mentioning England

Not sure the Toby jug full of piss that is Adrian Chiles agrees, fairly sure he's got England as favourites for the cup now

Playing football like that they could win the cup and still no-one would care. I found myself checking out "17 animal photobombs" on Facebook it was so boring.

Prince William can piss off.

Why an earth are they spoiling my enjoyment of each goal by showing him and his crap blazer.

At least he won't ever be my King.

After Sturridge's goal, he noticed he was on the screen and you could see he was thinking "shit, I better clap..."

Should have done his "Dance" and mimed eating a subway. That advert will be my main memory from this shockingly boring game.

No not really before then -due primarily to his speed- his goal scoring covered up the poor technical side. Once he lost his ability to score the other aspects of his game opened up to scrutiny and it's then becomes apparent as if it's new . However most (like your good self) assume he 'lost it' on the coach trip down the M1.
