PieEater Isn't there an additional penalty for two administrations in 2 years, although the first was in the prem so that doesn't count :?

I think Luton's was: Third Admin in 10 years + failing to agree a CVA + Transfer irregularities.

Pompey is: Second Admin in 3 years. They originally agreed a CVA, we have not got to the position of the next CVA. Fail to agree that (most of the new debt is HMRC who won't iirc) and they'll get extra points deducted. They *might* get points deducted for failing to meet the old CVA.

Rev Algenon Stickleback H I've always found them the dreariest club in the league. Vale Park is a charmless pit too, which suits them down to the ground. It was a horrible place before they did it up, and it looked as equally horrible and old when they'd finished.

Other than the sheer delight of putting their gobby fans in their place when we won 4-0 up there in 93/94, I can't see anything about them that's praiseworthy.

Was confronted by a charmless northerner who snarled "You fukking jammy bastards" outside Vale Park after we'd tonked them in the game you mention.

Can you believe Vale Park was built to be the Wembley of the north? This was the vision:

Birch sounds extremely pessimistic and says he's got no money to take them any further than 2 weeks so needs to conclude a deal with a buyer in that timescale.

Doomed, they're doomed!

I remember coming out of that game and seeing someone - presumably one of theirs - punch a police horse in the face.

I actually like the idea of Port Vale - really old-fashioned club which most people who aren;t fans don't know where it is. They always seem to think it's up the Wirral.

Not the kind of language you'd want to use if you thought you already had a genuine potential buyer among those showing an interest.

bolton's debt now exceeds £110m. i can't wait for them to be relegated!

Notlob would be seriously fu cked as would Wigan. Around 85% of their TOTAL income is Sky money.

Couldn't help but laugh when I saw David Gold interviewed and he laid the blame for Portsmouth's plight at the door of the Premier League, the Football League and HMRC.

I don't recall any of those bodies pressurising PFC into spending any money that they didn't have

That would be the same David Gold that said West Ham were on the verge of going bust themselves if they got relegated, and then they throw millions and huge wages on getting promoted. Now that is a club I want to pay for their financial misgivings and drop down the leagues like a pair of Jordan's soggy knickers!

But it will all be HMRC's fault.

I'm sick of rabbits being pulled out of the hat but it sounded to me like he knows there isn't even the slimmest chance of a white knight coming forward this time and was preparing the fans for the worst.

Had to chuckle at Darren Gough on TS last night saying that there was no way the club could fail to fulfil its fixtures because of the impact that would have on the table. He suggested that even if they had to play games with a bunch of reserves and kids in local parks they simply HAD to complete the season...

Adrian Durham did point out that, as a quick for instance, it might not be wise to play Portsmouth v Millwall in a local park, but Gough was insistent that the Millwall fans wouldn't be allowed to go.

Not sure he'd really thought that one through...

Has anyone looked at how the foot of the table would look if their record was expunged before the end of the season? I had a quick look at the April fixtures (I heard mid-April is critical time)- apart from Saints on the 7th they are all teams towards the bottom- plus the impact of points already gained by teams down there...could pull a few right into the mire.

Ipswich would go from 12 points clear to just 6.

I see that Coventry and Birmingham are now under a transfer embargo for not getting their accounts in on time.

Not sure what kind of punishment this is as the transfer window is closed. They should be banned from taking part in the next transfer window.

Would a transfer embargo mean they cannot bring in loan players too?

Presumably, as Birmingham have just brought three in because they knew this was coming.

Still not much of a punishment is it?
