Four Of ClubsTerminal Boardom Binfield v Windsor tonight in the B&B Senior Trophy semi-final. By all accounts, this will go ahead.
...well I wos there - looked a good turn out from the Stag M'dow crew too and evidently enjoyed the result - att official 192 - plenty huddled out of the constant but light drizzly stuff.
Clever worked opener for Moles - nice finish by Carl Withers too - but suspect his legs gave up early 2nd half trying to track some livewire runners through midfield for the visitors. Continually managed to turn the Binfield back four - which isn't the quickest, maybe missing a few regulars too - and Windsor could/should have had more.
Equaliser early-ish 2nd half, screaming free-kick - following a daft challenge on the edge of the box, as home side failed to clear the ball under pressure. Windsor winner from the penalty spot - didn't see the incident clearly but seemingly a needless handball about 15' from the end.
Moles tried to up the pace and had some success down the left (Seb Bowerman had switched over from the right) but rarely produced enough threatening deliveries. May well have been suffering from inactivity - haven't played a league game since Boxing Day - they did manage to hit the far post as a player slid in from a narrow angle.
Ref's patience snapped - with Moles back-line continually whinging at every dead ball - and sent two of them off in one go (2nd Yellows) near the end, as they surrounded him for the umpteenth time, to moan about Windsor's (understandable) time-wasting.
- I s'pose the lesson for Binfield is you won't win enough games without a forward line - they've sold off a series of them in recent times - latest being Cornell to Sluff. JJ runs hard but is too often left isolated or prone to poor choice on the ball - and he's not the biggest either. Will need to address this if they wish to start challenging at the upper end of the table next season - too late now I'd guess.
So Windsor deservedly progress to the Final v Abingdon Utd or RTFC - that semi- is due to be played @ Abingdon tomorrow (that's the Abingdon side whose pitch is currently ABOVE water)- weather permitting - there's s'posed to be lots more wet stuff on the way tomorrow PM/Eve
.
Many thanks for the report. It wasn't easy following on Twitter or Facebook as the updates dried up in the last 15 minutes or so.
Final provisionally set for Tuesday 15th April - venue yet to be decided. Are there any preferences or suggestions?
